My boys were making chainmail when they lived at home real easy to do as I remember.
Really not a bad idea Neal.
How you doing by the way good I hope.
i've had worse ideas, often waaaaay 'outside the box'.
i'm good mate thanks. i picked up motor no.3 for the valiant a couple of weeks back. small block with a tunnel ram this time and i've got a t5 trans for it too. should make a fun driver. the wife and i are planning to visit family in pennsylvania this time next year, it's first time we've been able to get out to see them so we're looking forward to it. how are you and your's, all good i hope?
neil.

Hope you enjoy your visit over here would guess the only difference would be the language and food and I guess the beer.
Tunnel ram sounds good always wanted to try one on my car. But 3 motors is like having 3 children always busy trying to keep up.

we've been on holiday to florida a half dozen times now (going back again next april) so we're used to the language and love the food. we want to see more of the states so visiting family is a good start. i don't tend to drink much there as i'm always 'the designated driver' so.....
yeah i can't resist a cheap motor, i've got another little 318 and a new ( bought cheap) set of 60 over pistons so that'll be my spare short block. i've also got a little 287 pontiac motor from a 55/6 gmc truck too with a bell', flywheel and clutch. i'm collecting parts to build a 32 ford roadster pickup with that in, you know what it's like
how's the snow, my mate john's out truck driving again in your neck of the woods and says it's been snowing some?

Sounds like you know the States real good and if you ever get this far up you have a place to stay and John if he has time for a beer and dinner to stop by.
My 29 Ford AA truck I keep thinking of making a hot rod and the flat head V8 in it.
I don't remember the 287 Pontiac motor small V8 or V6 is that aluminum block?

that's good to know, thanks.
the 287 is a proper iron pontiac v8 motor, looks like all the others just smaller inside. like a lot of early versions of most makes it has a forged crank too and a short stroke so ought to rev well and be fun with a manual trans, probably another t5 like i have for the valiant.

Sounds like fun maybe a turbo to help it out.

I can't believe how many people on FABO are helping me figure the right combo for my engine and tranny. Sure glad I'm asking even stupid questions, all you guys have been putting up with me and helping so much. Thank you all.
And your all good at making sure I spend all my money. lol

Had a few projects that took up my garage so my car and parts were stuffed in a corner. Ordered a torque converter, flex plate, motor mounts weather strips and sun roof seals. So back to getting something done.

Today was a install weather strips, clean, paint and grease door parts. The door latch mechanism on both doors is in real good shape so cleaned and painted them both. Don't think the paint will hold up real good but what the hell cheaper than buying new ones.

Weather strips I bought from Steele rubber and seems to be good quality but the factory ones had metal ends in the door seals and the new ones do not.

As you can see the rubber is formed good but the old one has a metal backing that is better in my opinion.

New rubber comes with plastic push in clips to hold the ends down in place that are to small to tighten down in the factory holes and will not hold the rubber in place. I am glad I had the original screws to put back in. The new clips on the rest of the rubber seems to have a good hold.
Just my 2 cents in new parts I hope it helps someone out there.

I'd probably throw some 3m super weatherstrip adhesive on that area.

Good idea because without the metal backing the screws will not hold the rubber in place.
After I get the glass installed and the doors adjusted will do that.

Thanks for the heads up on the seals Fred. I meant to order some last week because my old ones needed all new plastic clips. My parts showed up and looks like I forgot to order the seals. I found a pack of 30 clips for $5.xx so I will go that route and reuse my seals.

I'm not trying to give Steele seals a bad name quality is good the fit was real good and don't know if I can buy any with a metal backing.
If yours are good then yea save some money not like we're driving our cars in the rain and snow.
