I am trying to figure out if my 1970 340 Dart had power steering. In the build sheet the last line section for Suspension- Steering has a number 7 typed in the Power Steering box. Not sure what that 7 means. Does anyone know?

Not original engine (has a '69 now) and it's manual steering, but it is an air conditioning car and I have read those are usually power steering cars.

Thanks in advance!

S77 is the broadcast sheet code for power steering.

S is in the header, 77 is in the desription box below.

A single 7 printed below that = S77

And you said;

Not original engine (has a '69 now)

So just in case you did not know......... The 1970 model year started in August of 1969, so thousands of 1970 model year cars have blocks cast in 1969.

Have you checked the VIN on the broadcast sheet to make sure it matches the VIN of the car?

Thank You!!! That's exactly how my sheet shows it. So it did have power steering, excellent. Mine was built in Feb 1970 and likely it had a '69 date coded engine, however I bought it in 1978 to bracket race- like the kid I was, I swapped in my
69 race 340 motor.......and the original I believe ended up in my brother's Dart, sold long ago. Interesting story- sold mine in 1989 to get $ to start a business, then found it for sale March 2018 and bought it back. The interesting part is that it was the same guy I sold it to and he had stored it in his garage all those years. Now it's my own little time capsule and I'm making it more enjoyable for street driving. Hence the power steering question (yes, I'm the one that put in manual steering all those years ago). I was talking to Halifaxhops and he mentioned you were the one that could tell me about the power steering, so thanks very much!

Any way to find out how many 4 speed 340 Dart's with gold exterior (FY4) and green interior(H6F8)? And how many 4 speed with factory air were built? I'd guess that info isn't available.

Oh, and yes the VIN number on the sheet matches the VIN on the car. I found the sheet on the back side of the rear seat upholstery....

Chrysler did not track combinations of options, so the answer to that is no, there is just no way to know.

If you check the front seat / seats & behind the glove box liner you may find more broadcast sheets.

I know of a 1970 model year PS pump & box, I'll message you with my email address.
