Just wanted to get your feelings on what Scamps are selling for or worth. I somewhat have my eye on a '72 Scamp, mostly all rust free(so I'm told), v8, been sitting in storage for years....but really no idea what it's worth. I had a 69 Dart for over a decade, sold it, and was looking at potentially getting another A Body.
Thanks!

Your kidding right?

Anywhere from 50 cent (or less) to 50 grand or better depending on drivetrain, level of modification or not, the amount of Bondo or not and of course the desire-ability or said car.

ops! Hit the post button by accident....

Pictures are worth a mint in getting an estimate on worth. A picture of the fender tag would be huge and best if it matched the cars VIN & body panels.

What ever you are willing to pay for it, is what it's worth. It's a Dart hardtop with Plymouth front sheet metal. If it's a nice car you desire and the price
is right, buy it.

I understand and I'm not asking you to appraise this car from a vague description and no pictures.... just approx value of a grade 1,2,3,4 vehicle, if similar in value to a 72 Dart, etc. I've found restored examples selling in the 15k-22k range. This one is unrestored, supposedly low miles, little/no rust, probably needs repainted, been sitting a long time and needs many things gone through to make it road worthy again.

Absolutely!

Generally, the A bodies are cheapest own.
If your not talented in body/paint work, purchase one done.
If your not a good mechanic or understanding how to hot rod an engine, purchase one done or order one up from Blue Print Engines.

The big question is, “Is it worth it to you?!?!”

Below, this car was drive train less which is right up my alley! So I got it.

OK, my above example was $13,500 as you see it that also included 2- complete 340’s, 2-904’s, 1- torque converter, 2-rear suspensions, driveshaft and every part needed except the clips to install the rear window trim.

Since I like screwing engines together & after 30+ years of doing so, I have plenty of spare parts that made that cheap, easy & quick. The expensive part was the tti headers and full tti exhaust which was waaaaaay worth it. The engine / trans / rear end, was put together for less than 2K. Because I had almost all the parts already.

My beat up rusty Duster was $700.
From a parts car I dumped in a 400/727 & purchased a 8-3/4 to refurbish and a set of 4.88’s. Wheels and tires cams free for helping another MoPar guy out. Summit racing buckets, radiator electrical fan, MSD 6 digital, donated by my son in law. New parts were Autozone radiator. B&M shifter, Lokar cables, brake parts.

The stupid thing is it is a fun barrel full of monkeys. We terrorized the local Blvd. light to light.

Underneath will tell the story. If it has Rusted floors, frame, trunk.... few hundred?

#1 is a concours show only car that never gets driven

2-3K depending on an actual look. How greasy it is, will it start and run smooth? Rust under the car and how bad and where?!?!

That thing could be a great project if it is reasonably priced within your price range not needing a lot of major work.
I’d assume tune up parts, brake parts and tires off the bat. Use that as your leverage on a cheaper price ONCE you are ready to purchase and IN PERSON looking at, under, in & around the car.

Good luck and happy hunting! I hope you get it and have a ball with it. Remember, is got to be in your skill range and within the thickness of your wallet!

A friend spent $5000 for this 318/auto car. He added the wheels and away he went.

If that one up top he is looking at washes up and compounds out well, shines with wax afterwards, that would be awesome!

Right now I can get it for 4500, before it was parked years ago, it had a 8.75 rear from a cuda put in it, large bolt all around with front disc, low millage 360 from an RV and a 727 swapped in...and then never driven. It should run, but hasn't in years.

Hummmm, to much vs the picture given.

For sure and go check it out! It has all the right drivetrain parts. (I like a 904 better though....)

I bought mine from my daughter about 8 years ago for $3000. She bought it for $2000 2 years before that from the original owner with 85000 miles on it in Oklahoma. Very solid body also. Since then it has a new headliner, carpeting, bucket seats, gauges, steering wheel, stereo, Wheels and tires, radiator, headers, rebuilt carburetor, gas tank, rear bumper and the engine has new frost plugs and valve stem seals. There's more of course but can't remember it all now. I guess I'd value it at about $6,000 now. Still needs a lot but at least I can drive it around the block now. hope this helps.
Oh yeah, it's a 318 with 904 auto and 7 1/4 open rear end.

keep in mind that options or a lack of would change the vehicles value to not just you but to everyone else though that value may not be the same. like in a car like this a/c and disc brakes would be options that I would value that others would not.

also I have seen cars go for alot more and alot less than the stated values in this publication, but these values seem reasonable to ME.

I'd offer a thousand. Tops. Check for rust. You work hard for your money, and he hasn't done squat with the car so he doesn't really care, probably just wants it gone because his wife is nagging the **** out of him to get rid of it.

By this post ^^ the value just went up. If it's a 8.75 rear end from a A-body, and it has a sure grip, you have a little some of money right there.

Wow, those are some big prices on Barracuda. What's '70 Challenger look like.
Judging from the marker light on the fender, it appears to be a 71 scamp, unless someone put a 71 fender on the right side. I parted out a 71 Scamp
a few years back where someone had put a 72 right fender on it.
