What's it worth? 1972 Plymouth Scamp

-
Right now I can get it for 4500, before it was parked years ago, it had a 8.75 rear from a cuda put in it, large bolt all around with front disc, low millage 360 from an RV and a 727 swapped in...and then never driven. It should run, but hasn't in years.

he is nuts asking that much if the picture you posted is it. been sitting for years means it needs a lot of work and who knows if it will actually run.

Yeah I agree, if you want to sell something at least clean it up so I can see what I'm looking at with more pics. I appreciate everyone's input....I'll keep thinking on it and decide if I want to go look at it(it's several hours away)

I have a '72 Scamp . they made 240,000 of them . Not rare , not a pony car , not a muscle car . the value is in the condition . to get the sellers asking price it must : start , stop, steer and not have any serious rust or damage issues . The seller is an a-hole if he won't wash/clean it , deduct $1,000 for that .

Sorry not for trade. I changed the color over the Summer. It looks like this now. Lol

other than its a turd sitting in a pile of garbage, its a #5 car, $2580.00 if he thoroughly cleans it up like I can sit in it wearing my Sunday best and it does not stink. I would flash $1500.00 in Benjamin's in his face if you really want it AS IS. I'd walk away if he bitched. expect to put another 1k into it and alot of *** busting work to get it to drive.

want to prove a point? put it in neutral and tell him to push it. stick a chunk of tissue on the end of a stick into the gas tank and let him smell the varnish.

Dirty cars can be really good deals.

If the parts described are included I agree the value just went up.

I LOVE how people assume because there's 2 inches of dust on it, that it's a rusty pile of crap.

...and that's why they can be such good deals!

Most everyone sees the dirt and walks away, never noticing it has all those hot rod goodies installed and the body is nearly perfect.

And like you say if all the original parts are there too, the value should go up. The less parts you've got to hunt for, the cheaper it is to restore or fix up.

It looks good to me...dirt washes off and if the owner washes it all up he or she might want more $ for it.I'd go look at it.

Not a Scamp but I paid 5k for this a few years back and drove it home. 318, 727, 8 3/4...super nice original interior and super solid body.
Bought it at a garage sale...lol

A friend spent $5000 for this 318/auto car. He added the wheels and away he went.

I bought mine from my daughter about 8 years ago for $3000. She bought it for $2000 2 years before that from the original owner with 85000 miles on it in Oklahoma. Very solid body also. Since then it has a new headliner, carpeting, bucket seats, gauges, steering wheel, stereo, Wheels and tires, radiator, headers, rebuilt carburetor, gas tank, rear bumper and the engine has new frost plugs and valve stem seals. There's more of course but can't remember it all now. I guess I'd value it at about $6,000 now. Still needs a lot but at least I can drive it around the block now. hope this helps.
Oh yeah, it's a 318 with 904 auto and 7 1/4 open rear end.

I would loved to find me a 72 Scamp like this for around 6000.

MY wife. Couple years we gave $1500 for a complete pretty darn solid, straight 71 Duster, plus a sb. It was filthy in and out, had a few weeds growing thru the floor. Stopped at the car wash on way home and hosed it out, inside and out. Then she says, is this the same car?
Few weeks later, tires, radiator, bakes, we are driving down the road. She says is this the same car?!
The next year I have done all the body work/painted it, she asks the same darn question. I replied "I gave a dude $6000 for the paint work". She replies, " YOU ARE DEAD!" lol.. true story.

Don't go by the book value for a 72 Scamp. Just not realistic. If the quarters are original rust free (and straight) and all the inners are rust free and floor is solid and the torsion bars areas are solid in my opinion $1.200 to $2,000. ps ever rebuild a mopar front suspension? etc. etc. You can buy a nice one for 3-5 stocker.

Sometimes there good deals on done and partially done cars. Usually work not done by a $80/hr resto shop but the owner. Sometimes the own does good work sometimes he is the cousin to Goober. Many people can't tell the difference till too late.
