Finally got an old pickup truck!

Wanna do a swap to a 93 D350 chassis with this one... no rush though.

Well I went to the junkyard this morning, it was slim pickin's for sure. Not a single B-van (last time I went there were 7-8) and only 2 older Dodge trucks; a 1981 W250 and a late-80s D150. I grabbed the power booster and master cylinder off the W250 but obviously couldn't get spindles because it's a 4x4, also debated grabbing the calipers but I may buy new/reman'd ones instead. I looked over the D150 and was tempted to pull the spindles off that but I had doubts the 1/2-ton spindle was the same as a 3/4-ton (is it??).

I'll see about going next weekend and probably call beforehand and ask if they got much new inventory. Guess I'll have to start looking for ads for truck parts as well, would rather save a few bucks and pull the parts myself but whatever.

spindles should be same. what usually makes difference is gvw. i think outer bearings are same on some 150/250 and inners and seals are different. i have a chart in my files some place that will tell. i.e. i have a 87 150 2wd and a 93 250 2wd that will interchange due to gvw being same. will look for chart after steak supper.

could not find my notes yet but looking at napa on line, the 3000/3600 gvw are same. they are different from 3800/4000 gvw. basically depends on what brake size-12x2.5 or 12x3.0. same with wheel brgs. so if he has drum brakes on front now, he could take spindles and change to disc brakes and cross over bearing numbers to get right stuff. also,as you said ball joints show different also, depending on gvw.

If your area is anything like my area, you’d be doing yourself a BIG favor my getting on FB. I still check CL from time to time but it’s gone down hill big time for vehicles and car parts. Everyone’s switching to marketplace. You can also search specific areas much easier on marketplace as well.
I agree. I wasn't, still not actually, a big fan of FB but Craigslist in my area only offers up borderline junk quality Mopars that I'm interested in (72-93 D/W series pickups) so I started checking FB market place. There can be some strangeness, same as CL, but you can find some nice stuff actually for sale at reasonable prices. I found this 78 on marketplace, was no "great deal" but no rust and all it needed was some skilled tuning, and a set of new wheels.

I consider that truck a “getting what you pay for” value even if it was no great deal. Is that B5 and powder blue or are those Ford colors? I like the styled side molding and spear trim. It blends the ‘77-‘78 grille in and makes it look like it belongs there. The only thing I see wrong with it is it’s almost too pretty to drive... BTW, the Torq Thrust D’s look perfect on that!

I have a '72 Satellite Sebring Plus. I was noticing the Dodge truck the guy doing the plaster work in the house was driving which reminded me a little of the "fuselage" styling of the '71 -'72 B Bodies. When I asked the worker what year the pickup was, it turned out to be a 1972 (but it's a good-looking step-side)! (not the same truck in the photo)

Factory medium blue metallic and light blue. I have two Dodge pickups, one I refer to as "the beater truck" (90 Power Ram) and the 78 "the pretty truck" My wife calls it a grandpa's truck"

It really is the perfect definition of "Sunday Truck"...

Kinda random question, anybody know if 33" tall tires on 17x9" wheels with 4.5" backspacing will fit on my D200 without clearance issues?

I know 33X12.50s will fit a ‘72 W200 with no problem. 33’s on the rear usually aren’t a problem on D series trucks, but I think you might have to trim the edges of fenders on the front.
