Hey Guys,

I have a 66 Formula S that already has factory disk brakes. I would like to upgrade my master cylinder to dual chamber. My question is what distribution port to use? The car already has a factory proportioning valve for the rear drums, so I just need a 5-port distribution block.

My current distribution block is 4 port.
1. Master cylinder line
2. Left front line
3. Right front line
4 Rear drum line. (It gets split to left/right at the rear of the car)

So I think I need a similar distribution block, but with two master cylinder input ports.

Does anyone have a part number recommendation?

Thanks!

67 dual mc for disk/drum, larger reservoir is used for disk side. Get any prop valve from a american SAE thread disk/drum car. I used a jeep one that will become your distribution block, or use 'dumb' 3 way block and a prop valve on drum side.

Yes, I think I need a dumb(no proportioning) block with two inlets from MC, and 3 outlets. So this would be a 5 port distribution block.
Does anyone have a part number for this?

Find yourself a factory disc brake proportioning valve that was used on those cars.
They are out there, but sometimes difficult to find when your looking for one.
They are repoped, but it seems it's been hit or miss, if you get a good one or not.
No, i don't have any more of them for sale.
Long gone.

When I changed my master cylinder in my 65 Dart 2 pot master front Kelsey Hayes. I just ordered the distribution block and brake lines from inline tube. Fit perfect

Hi Dartsun,

If you could share the distribution block part number from Inline Tube, that would be very appreciated. I went to their site, and I didn’t see what I think I need. I believe I need a distribution block with 5 ports: 2 for Master cylinder, 1 for rear brakes, 1 for left front, 1 for right front.

Thanks!

Hey hemi71x,

My car already has a factory proportioning valve in the rear brake line, since it was a factory disk/drum car.

My hope is to replace my distribution block. Currently, it only has one input port since my master cylinder is a single. I would like to find one that accepts two inputs from a dual master cylinder.

It’s also very possible that I misunderstand the braking system. From the looks of that photo, you know a heck of a lot more about brakes than I will ever know!

My 66 has factory Kelsey-Hayes. I did mine about 6 years ago with help from some FABO members.

I used the original distribution block. Ran the back brakes through the proportioning valve and bypassed the distribution block.
It's basically what @pishta recommended.

At the top you can see where I removed the rear line , capped it at the block and connected it to the line from the proportioning valve.

The bottom line runs to the driver's front. Next on the right runs to the back of the master cylinder. And top right runs over to the passenger front.

Here's my m/c and Summit prop valve.

Man, you’re the best! Excellent pictures and description. I’m going to copy that scheme exactly.
