One "mod" I did once door panels were off was I used velcro to hold panels in place. The door panel clips can poke holes/indentation in the vinyl.
Glue matching velcro on panel and on the door.
Legendary sent a flattened out 8 penny or similar nail with the door cards. It is a pita, but when used the right way to open the backing to insert the clips, it left no indentation! Lots of patience required!
