After trying all the therapy/exercises, I finally had one foot done. Dr did not "clip" the tendon, just removed some of it's width in the length-wise direction. Supposedly that would weaken it, and cause less pain. From a mechanical engineering point of view, it all made sense. Operation was supposed to be simple, quick, with almost no recovery time. Post-op I could not walk on that foot for weeks, it was so painful. Once it finally healed it did feel better for a couple years, but seems to be just as bad as it was originally now. Certainly not worth the extra pain & suffering of the operation!
