I just added another tool on the bench. lol I thought you guys just posted time slips as proof positive.
Isn't that all it takes to make it TRUE....
the "racer forum" is full of ET slips being posted. Am I to chase Pittsburgracer's car also because he posts ET slips? Just because Jpeg tags along and tries to rub my face in the sand and we have a lot of jibber jabber doesn't make him my competitor. I want to run along side that 392, but not bad enough to spend 10k... LOL.

I raced a scat pack challenger this year at test and tune. He was running 12.60s and I was 12.80s. I beat him because I treed him on the line. Made it that much sweeter. We had fun.

Most here run 12.3's, depending on traction. With traction, I bet my son hits high 11's.

Another thing, I just couldn't challenge Jpeg to another internet race. He quit the last one in a week, grumbling his way out the door calling names. But if you like food for thought, had he stayed in it, I bet I'd already have an 11 second car :D As it stands, I won that 2019 race with a 13.3 car. But that is all on another thread for all to see and read, if they have the time LOL :D

On to the Scat Attack!

In your mind...... how much power do you think it’s going to take to run 11’s in an a body?
And why wouldn’t a stock bottom end hold up to that?

Season after season? Dude....... be serious.
How many times did 318will go to the track this year, and how many passes did he make?
How many passes did you make on your “hot” combo before changing it up?
No guessing...... count the time slips.

A guy that goes to the track once in a while puts way fewer runs on their stuff compared to a guy who spends his summers “bracket racing”.

As for the cost of the converter/gears...... those items are where the ET is.
A good converter is $800+.
Doesn’t matter if it’s for a $20,000 high end bracket piece or a re-ringed 360.
Costs the same.
Same with the gears....... they cost what they cost.

With the right cam, gears, converter.......you don’t need expensive heads to run 11’s.
Bowl blended stock heads will get you there.

I think one time I started counting them and I was up to 80 and my wife called me and I still was only about halfway through the stack that was a couple years ago. Also this doesn't include the ones I lost threw away or all the ones my son brought home with him to Colorado when he would come down for the Mopar Nationals year after year before my grandkids were born... Yes I have literally hundreds of times lips with this motor..
Again like I said here I've dialed the car back considerably over the past couple years...
As far as 318hvtwf he's been drag racing at the 15-second to 13 second level for 4 years with the car and now wants to do 11-8 with the same bottom end...
It was just my experience when I tried to do the same thing after a couple seasons kablooey...
Like you said I will enjoy the show...
I just know shaving a half-second off from 15 to get down to 13 5 or 13-3 is not the same as shaving 13-3 down to 11.8..
and for all those saying this guy did it look at his post and that guy did it look at that post.. and just like 318hvtwf, it's all lip service to me till you prove it with a time slip "YOURSELF"...
The problem is I've seen too many people saying what their friends can do and what they've seen other people do...
Let's just save this and see what 318hvtwf dose and stop the lip service once and for all...

unless it's really j par your gunning for and I think it is in your own sick way. lol because I would and could. lol
The only person who's not plainly saying this is 318 has valves that will fly...
His son...baha baha... He'll never catch him....
Look at the beginning of that thread and the voting deal it's still on there? How I have four of everything how'd jab has a stock Eliminator and poor little 318 has nothing... I had no idea he was going to announce it like that? I was out.. please remember I had already been in two complete shitshows with the captain of no show yellow rose...
^^^^ look at this bull crap even more lip service saying he'd already be at 11.8...
:rolleyes::bs_flag:...
Freaking Fantasyland...

I had a car that would do this one day and there's a post somewhere with some guy that did it.. again it's all lip service and saying what somebody else can do. This is about 318hvtwf's car and what he says it will do? Well do it...
We are watching and rooting you on..
I'm not saying you can't I'm just saying that I would start from the bottom and work my way up so I had something Dependable for the years to come...
I don't want what happened to me to happen to him... KABLOOEY...

If I were attempting 11’s with the 3.55’s......I’d buy a 408 rotating assy before I bought aluminum heads(being in the position 318will is in, with a few sets of heads already in his possession).
Then I could also get by with a less expensive converter and a milder cam too.
I alluded to the stroker but of course I didn't say it because I know he would have wanted to Tar and feather me for even mentioning it.. but you're a guru out here and you can get away with saying something like that and just getting a polite thank you for the effort..

So, that big stack of time slips are all from that one hot combo you built?
The one you ran 11’s with?
If so, nice job!!

But.....if that stack is from various iterations where you pulled it apart to change things around...... I don’t consider that the same as running one combo for “season after season”.

When I had my roller cammed 448 in my heap running 10’s, that combo remained unchanged for 3 seasons of bracket racing.
A couple hundred passes........ no changes to anything.
(That was my attempt at running 10’s. Went 10.91 right off the trailer).

But, I still say that for the amount of 11-sec passes(well...... attempts at 11’s) 318will will make in a season...... a stock 360 short block in good condition would be “no problem” at the required power level for the target goal.
He’s going to change something around with it after a season anyway.

And as far as @yellow rose gos and all his post.. please he is the king of lip service...
I say pull that Rusty X-block off the floor and stop the lip service....

Yes.. the same bottom end.. the same Cam and the same heads and lifters.
Same intake same exact same transmission...
Yes I did take the heads off and put 202 valves in from 188 but same exhaust same Springs.. I did take the 273 rockers off and put Hughes 1.6:1 rollers.. I did regrind the cam recently and had the lifters retouched up but the same ones...
But more to my point the bottom end is untouched.. and besides the intake valves themselves all the wearing parts are the same..

Soooooo...... roughly how many 11 second passes on it?

Just curious......Always a std trans?

How long has that bottom end been together?

That is a nice stack of slips though.
You should count em up someday.

First yes always a 4 Speed and always will be... (Except when I put a pink 318 in the car with a 904 I rebuilt for my wife but never part of this combination whatsoever) four of those Time Slips are probably from that motor I just took it to the track once...
Roughly two-thirds are 11 seconds. Most of the other third are 12 passes and a few others just goofing around at the track that were probably higher..
This does not include one crap ton of Street driving here and there and spirited at that.. you know how it is driving a car like this you can't drive it like Grandma it just will not let you... You can at least give me that...

The motors been together since February or March of 2015 sorry I forgot to add that..

Yes, I'll be the first to vouch for you in the fact that you make trips to the strip, and your 410 has held up well.

Really? I've thrown out probably 500 runs just in my car. Not counting my brothers junk. My cousins junk (probably put 100 run on it, maybe more while you were supposed to be down there rotating the earth and every one of those got **** canned when he died) and a half dozen other cars I driven wher the owners kept the time slips.

Your time slips don't mean **** to me. I've TUNED other people's cars, for money for more runs that you and ten of your buddies can add together and count.

As is typical of you, you make the rules (time slips make you right) and then poo poo anyone who won't produce what you want, because it's a stupid, second grade metric that doesn't mean a thing.

I have literally thousands of runs including blown alcohol, injected alcohol, carb and injected gas, tuning with a magneto, what ever. How can I produce time slips for that? I forgot about the blown gas friend I helped. Most guys who have a brain larger than a pea, deep six the time slips. They are a PITA to keep track of. The rest of us, who don't use time slips as a metric of knowledge or ability, we keep log books. Because that's what is easy to work back and forward from. Not finger fondling a bunch of stupid pieces of paper. I never logged my stuff on a computer, because I didn't take one to that track. The guys still racing I'd assume are all doing that on computer.

BTW, I was using and getting paid to tune tunnel ram combo's right out of the army in 1983. But that doesn't count, because it doesn't meet that screw ball standard you have tried to lay on anyone you think you can intimidate.

If you want me to, I can go back and literally detail, with seer type clarity how many times you didn't listen to me, and others to YOUR OWN EXPENSE.

And now you want to save 318HVTWF from himself!!! Classic hypocrite.

Maybe you should slow down and take some of your own medicine. I would have told you to save your money on the heads, and pay me 500 bucks to come over and tune your stuff up and do more than those heads will get you.

But I know you, and people like you. When I'm there, I don't lift a wrench. I bark out orders like John Wayne on a cattle drive. Question me once, challenge me just once, and I bounce. And I'd tune my mother the same way.

I'm not there to educate you. I'm there to help you. But you won't listen.

So grind out your own way. It's frustrating. But as my uncle used to say, me no cares.

Thanks for rooting for me. Thanks for the concerns of my engine, I mean that. I have 400 into the entire long block. It just needed carb/intake, and have had 4 yrs of fun. IF something comes loose on the bottom end, I'll pull heads, cam, intake, and carb and plop in another short block. Of course, hoping I don't have too....

Well admittedly I could only get bits and pieces of that it was getting a little crazy...lol.. but I was getting the same old just of how you know everything and I know nothing...
How I've Got Time Slips to prove it and you have...???.. basically when your look back nothing but lip service? Whenever you're asked for evidence of anything which like you said you do not have to prove but you know people just read the internet and I'm a supermodel...

I would rather go slower than a turtle than have someone bark orders at me and my garage... That ain't happening.. and pay someone to do it.. bahahaha..
people pay me to help with their nostalgic hot rods but I'm thankful for the work and kind to my customers and they're the same with me.. when generally I know ten times more than they do unfriendly and show them how to know what I know and don't bark out orders... this comes back for my concrete days when I was a concrete foreman and was treated like a major know-nothing peon when I was a kid... when I became a foreman I treated my men as equals and show them how to do my job as well as theirs... They all became Foreman of their own concrete companies...

Wow! Ya'll been busy while I stepped away! LOL. I'll cherry pick my responses :)
  • Looks like Jpegs been in class today... LOL. Bet he walks out with a D minus at best, and won't turn in any homework :D:poke:

And also of course hoping that the inexpensive short block doesn't hurt your new expensive parts...

admittedly I purposely do not do what yellow rose tells me to do and also I've asked him not to tell me to do good stuff because I will not do it on purpose...
reverse psychology works on me the best because when someone tells me what I can't do... It's game on!... I've been told what I can't do all my life and here I am!...

I've had a lot of hot rod cars and done a lot of a little this and a little that and this time with this car I finally wanted to start from a good foundation and do it once and do a good... Not great.. just good..
