Asking for a friend...
Anyone successfully un-taco a 69 Barracuda hood? Not creased on the outside. Surely the inner supports are.

What do the go for un rusted, un molested?

I see them for $100-200.
73-76 Darts are basically the same hood with a few differences.

New word, just made it up!:)

Definition... To take something that has been taco-ed and put it back to it's pre taco state

Drill the spot welds and separate the two halves. That should take very little work to straighten back out once separated.

Yes, there are spot welds that connect the top skin and lower support. They go all the way around the hood. There really is not many spot welds to drill. You may be able to pull that with a hydraulic ram and some clamps on the seam where the spot welds are. It would be worth a try.

MY first question is "how did it get taco-ed
Lets just say that a strap attached to the hood, a spinning mechanical fan and a human body stall a 400 hp engine, bend a hood and put a mean mark on the human body.

Again, not me but some one I know.

He will heal, I hurt more for the car.

Holt Crap Batman! That guy's eye probably twitches everytime he gets near a Mopar now! :poke:

Doesn't really answer the question but was kind of funny. I guess. The reason I ask is because it helps to reverse what has happened. Think about attacking it with that in mind. A lot can be done with blocks of wood, sand bags and a heavy human bodies. I'd have to be there to really come up with a plan but you get the idea.

Friend was leaning over the driver's side fender when fan grabbed the strap and pulled the hood down on him.

Luckly he had something on the rad support which prevented the hood from closing more

Oh! He was the “beef” in the middle of the Taco!

ahhh! I hope he’s okay.

Too funny. He is ok. Big mark on his back, but otherwise ok

So you put a block of "something hard" between the core support and hood where the strap was tied. Stand on something that gives you the ability to put good hand pressure against the "taco"and push hard. That will get you in the ball park. May have sprung the hinge. I'm sure the structure is buckled. You will need to metal finish the buckle in the sub structure for ultimate structural integrity. That will require a stud puller or something similar. Once the hood looks level to the nose panel you should block both front corners of the hood and finish off the "taco". The opposit corner will probably want to lift. Thats where a sand bag or a big bellied human comes in. Finishing the "taco" may involve a strong blanket a long block of wood and a big hammer,
Make sure the wood block is concentrated on the edge of the hood as not to dent the panel. :)
Good luck!!!

guess that action can't be reversed to unbend the hood.
