So I found a pic of something that caught my attention.

It appears to be a see through carburetor bowl on a one barrel.

Where was such a thing available through??

I rebuilt one for a guy a couple years ago. Thought it was kinda cool. Wishing i had one for my fargo.
I put a 318 2 bbl on it instead.

They were common back in the 50's and early 60's.I had one on my 1960 Ford panel truck that I was driving in 1970 along with vacuum wipers that worked off the fuel pump and stopped when you hit the gas

A lot of old stuff used glass bowls through the years on carburetors, fuel pumps and sediment bowls.

Our old 55 International pick up had a 1 barrel Holley with a glass float bowl. Pretty common back then.

I suppose it could be none the worst then using a clear fuel filter above the intake manifold...

If that glass float bowl is broken in accident, the car's gonna be tore all to hell enough that you ain't gonna fix it anyway.

They were also common on mid 50's to early 60's AMC cars with flathead 6's and holley carbs. Like other commenters, never seen one break even on severely front end damaged cars. But agree if broken a potential fire hazard.

And you think a collision bad enough to break the glass float bowl won't break a metal one. That metal is brittle and if something were to smash into the carb I don't think it would matter one bit if it's glass or metal it will be puking gas all over the place.I'd be more concerned of fire in a car with all these electrics and fuel injection. They seem to burn up pretty easily.I always am seeing car fires but back in the 60's and 70's I rarely saw them

No more of a fire hazard than rubber hose over a nice piping hot exhaust manny, I can think of a number of engines like that AMC straight sixes for one...........
