Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
I have a sugar question, and a money question.

Don't you Americans have sugar cubes, like for putting in the coffee ? I have looked in the stores, no such things. Gosh, I hope this is not a political laden question.

I have wondered for a long time, since for example California have high wages and also very high cost, and many other states have much lower wages and cost. When I search for example Home Depot which is nationwide, or Napaonline, or O'Reilly's, will it come up a different prices for me than if I had been located in a different state when searching. I mean, does their web sites pick up the IP address and adjust the prices accordingly, or are the prices for for example Home Depot the same no matter where in the country ?

we can get sugar cubes here. and yes, pricing varies from place to place. Things like delivery costs from the warehouse to state and local taxes and fees. Rarely are prices the exact same. California is the highest in the nation in terms of prices for multiple reasons. Case in point, I can buy a bottle of Coke here for 1.25. When I was on vacation, I went to a vending machine to do so, and they wanted 5 bucks for it. I refused to pay it.

Look out squirrels and small pets. Usually they run in pairs and will hang out in your neighborhood as long as there's a food source.
Did you see my next post. Already got one!
Lots more for them to devour here!
And you're right. When I went out back to dump the coffee grounds, he or she was still hangin out in the big walnut tree. Couldn't give a hoot about the dogs out in the yard below, or me in the alley.

Ign power to reg and alternator. very similar to the welded splice.
Squareback mid 70’s alternator. tried the wires directly on battery circuit with same result.
i will recheck ground, but i doubt its a problem.
Where are you measureing voltage?
other possibility is the regulator is not breaking the ground - assuming its negative controlling VR.
Is it the brush or wire grounding?
If not then maybe bad regulator.

Got out of work a couple hours early and beat three rush hours.....

On the way home kept hitting green lights.
I should buy a lotto ticket today because it's been one of those rare days that everything works out

No doubt. I drove across town hitting every light, for got my papers so I turned around and went back,. I think I hit every light red (and a train crossing) on the way back. No lottery ticket for me.

I would think sugar cubes are more popular amongst cultures who make time for enjoying beverages. Most Americans I know, either don't have or make time to sit and enjoy coffee, tea, or anything else. From my view we don't prefer cubes that take a long time to dissolve, when the name of the game is fill up your hand tanker with coffee and go, go, go. There is little to no time to to refine it and enjoy slowly.

I have seen cultures that set a lot of time aside for refined enjoyment if beverages.

Just a thought

70’s regulator,2 pin. i trimmed the wiring out of a good harness,
Nothing is taped off or rubbing anywhere. Two regulators, same result. Block to body grounded, clean connections. Im baffled. only thing i can think of is the ground strap isnt heavy enough.
the only connections so far is coil and alternator. Not a single other connection in the entire truck.
Had to drive it out of shop, back in on friday afternoon.
I referred to this diagram, alt and reg wiring only.

I have a real problem with secretive people

They hide , they change there direction, and .... I better stop there
I don't know who you are talking about but it's possible some people don't post what is none of your business.

Not everyone uses the internet as a primary source of friends. Some people figure, if you cross paths, COOL, but If not, oh well.

There was life before the net and there will be after. Don't need the net to be cool.

I don't see the reasoning here.
The rotor brush must be grounding if the regulation is not working.
Try disconnecting the field negative wire, at the alternator.

If the alternator is still producing unregulated power without the return wire, then brush holder or terminal must be grounding.
Does that make sense?

After looking at that closer, I think I grounded my second field from the alternator to ground:realcrazy:
It made the amp gauge peg out on the negative side so I disconnected the field

My question about the voltage location was going toward measuring as close as possible to the regulator.
Prob like this.

I was thinking the same thing, have spare alternators as well.

If using the the pre-70 regulator, that's correct.
Those control the positive feed side.

If it pegged discharge, sounds like somehow the main output got grounded.

I've purposely replaced the insulating washer with a metal washer to ground one of the brushes for use with the earlier style regulator. Might looik to see if that was done accidently or on purpose.

The brushes and brush holders are easy to replace on these. Can do it with disassembling the case halves.

Usually around here by me, it means all has to go....with prices that reflect having to get rid of something. I assume he means he doesn't have to sell and the prices will reflect that (high or market value at best).
Webster definition...

fire-sale

\ ˈfī(-ə)r-ˌsāl \

(Entry 1 of 2)

Heavily discounted prices to obtain a quick sale.

(Entry 2 of 2)

Sale of merchandise damaged in a fire.

Based on that bird’s markings and behavior, it a juvenile hawk just learning to fend for itself in Winter and is hanging out where it thinks it can get easy prey. We have experienced it here and in previous houses numerous times. They eventually shun that behavior for higher reward/lower risk hunting as they mature. Being in a tree that close to the ground to hunt is risky for a raptor and they eventually learn to take a different approach. Being way up in the air gives them a much wider hunting range to select from, better opportunity to ambush prey that don’t see them coming and reduces risk for them.

Done many. May have a set kicking around.

The first pics are from the 3rd floor window. So the hawk is about 40' up in the first 4. Plenty of good eats but the middle of that tree gives good access to the relatively open yards and also some smaller trees. Its hard to describe.

Of course between the time I took the first pics, and the second set, he had grabbed that squirrel and I missed the show. My guess is snagged out of the tree or off a phone line or fence. Of course its possible he picked it out of the yard. I've become convinced the squirels were nibbling the kale I've been growing in a neighbors yard.

Mature hawks want to hunt from much higher altitude than that and in open air where they can attack anything within their vision and accelerate rapidly by diving to take it out before it sees them...with minimal energy expended by soaring the thermals to get to attack altitude.

A hawk that hunts close to the ground from within the confines of a tree makes more attacks than kills and expends high amounts of energy doing it making it a high risk to reward ratio. It also rapidly depletes the available prey within its narrow range of attack and is forced to move on to larger fields of attack and higher attack to kill ratios in order to survive.

Makes sense.
They eat to fly,and fly to eat.
Couple highways guys picked up a juvenile bald eagle that couldnt fly. The rescue shelter fed the baldy and he was good to go.
