Anyone else with a 440 in a a body (demon) that are having issues with burnt spark plug wire boots because the headers are sooooo close? I recently set fire to my #7 plug even with thermo shield boot (might not have been cover/protecting as much as it should have). But i see #4 and #6 having similar issues just not happen yet. I used the accel wires rated for 500degF

Are the hooker/TTI/ other headers giving similar problems or solve the issue?

i have tube headers that PO banged up pretty good to get the spark plugs installed.

I made myself some homemade metal shields out of sheet metal. I just shaped them using some pipe of the correct diameter and made them fit. The metal absorbs and dissipates the heat and protect the boots.

Ceramic plug wires from Accel, never burn em’ again.

Buy a Chevy and never look back.
My Rat motors in 2 of my tool trucks were the biggest plug wire burning pieces if **** on the planet. I finally put on some Extreme 9000 wires and it cured the problem.

I had a couple of MSD adjustable plug boots starting to burn , (TTI) HEADERS , wrapped them w/ some 1" header wrap . Doesn't look any worse then the oversize store bought boots .

I have 1 7/8" TTI's on my 440 Dart. 5 Years now (Taylor wires) no burns no shields . Most of them are 45 degree angle with two straight. I bought some MSD Boots ,terminals and crimper tool to repair burns but haven't had to use them yet.

I was thinking about those but worried they will still burn. Would it be over kill to use the heat sleeves too?
Here's picture of the closeness of plug to headers and my steering rack. Is there a smaller steering rack that i can use in the car to get more clearance from the header?

I also used some DEI heat sleeves, Accel ceramic plug wires, ended all my burnt wires.

I put over 4,000 miles on it this year with no burnt wires and ran across the state and back 8hrs straight one way.

can anyone provide pictures of their steering gear and how close they are to the headers? also what brand/type of steering gear
