There’s a member (can’t remember who though) who makes an adapter to mate a flip gas cap to the stock filler tube. IIRC, there’s 2 types he makes - up through 66 and 67-later. No recess is required.

Thanks Dartman. I thought of that but I don’t want the cap to stick out too much, so I’d like the recess. Appreciate the input.
