New turbo 350 Sfi case by ati at sema

Why? The 904 is arguably a better transmission. Now, I could understand a turbo 400 with a Mopar bellhousing. That would be something.

The new 2020 drag pack comes with a turbo 400 trans .

Exactly, it is a better transmission, but no one yet makes an Sfi case
For the torqueflite. The case at a certain power level becomes its weak link I guess. I gotta figure this is a marketing decision.
Make a case that you can sell lots of with the best lightweight internals. IMHO.

What is the case designed to fit? Mopar or Chevy?

The only good thing is there only building 50 !or bad ?

The 727 case won't hold 1100 horses.
"For OEM Case T400s, add an SFI Supercase and Chevy Bell at time of build for $1395."
I guess you could make an "SFI Supercase and Mopar Bell" for a 727 if that was the limiting factor, but who needs only 50 of them? Id think they would need 150 of them MIN from past Hellcat powered trans failures.....F it, we used KH brakes and Rochester carbs at one time too.

Where did you hear they were only making 50 of them?

pretty sure I saw on pro trans website that this case is designed to use 904 internals
and is a joint effort by ati and protrans.
SEMA 2019: New Super Case T350 From ATI Performance Products
Well don't thank me yet. I know I saw about a month ago on pro trans website about a turbo 350 with 904 guts but I don't see any 904 guts in that video. Perhaps they are making more than 1 version of it. I just assumed because they debuted it at sema that this wS the 904 version, but maybe it's not.

Theres a few twin turbos cars on this forum that are making 1000+hp with a 727, mine that maddart had built for the car will be able to handle 1000+hp no problem.

A 727 case is not Sfi certified. If you watch the video, ati explains
The reasons to develop an Sfi case. Also turbo cars do not launch very hard. We are not talking about the internal parts being able to handle the power, it's the stock case that is limiting.

The transmission has to deal with the power coming in, and the traction coming back through the driveshaft. If a mopar made 1100hp, and had the driveline, tire, and suspension to stick it, any torqueflite would come apart. There's not enough mopar racers to make that kind of product viable for any business. So they'll do what they can sell and make $$ on. It's that simple.

The racing Wirld is a messed up place. I got a buddy that was a Comp racer. He used a turbo 350 or 400 with 904 guts. Very expensive transmission. Bracket racers like myself flock to powerglides with weak Transmission cases and bellhousings si manufactures like ATI jump into the market. I now have 3 of their housings. The bellhousing can be changed to any Ford, Mopar, Chevy, and I don’t know what else in about 5-10 minutes.

The Scat 4.0 stroker crank in my motor came pre drilled on the flex plate flange with the Chev and the Mopar bolt pattern. That should tell people something. It keeps your options open.

So how does the torque converter selection work if you were to put a Mopar bell housing on that trans. Is the converter custom made?

All of my convertors would work in everything I own. I run the heavier duty turbo 350 input instead of the smaller powerglide input shaft.

This may be a stupid question but does this open up the possibilities of an O.D for the street ? Arent GM ODs based on TH 350 or 400s?

That doesn't really answer my question so I'll rephrase.
If you were to take your existing ati power glide and change the bell housing to say a ford smallblock, what torque converter would that combination use?.

I do not think so. Ati is a hardcore racing trans company, but you never know.
