Early 273 intake problems

First things first. I have read all the stuff on early 273 intake bolt sizes and angles. I’m looking for a solution/suggestion to my problem. My 273 used the 5/16ths intake bolts.

I have a ‘64 Valiant 2dr ht Valiant with a 273/4spd setup. I’ve had nothing but problems with 3 different 2bbl carbs. I’m over it! I want to put on a brand new small 4bbl carb and a 4bbl intake. So I bought this Offy intake manifold from a member (for the record I’m not mad). This is what I got...

Fast forward about 5 weeks and I finally get time to install it. Nothing but problems. The front bolt holes won’t line up at all. The rest are at a weird angle. The bolthead will not sit flat, when it touches the intake. The stock one was the same way but this one is way worse! Here are pics I took of the bolt angle in relation to both manifolds

And here is the front bolt holes. Yes, there is a gasket in there.

I checked the intake mounting bolt hole angles the best I could and discovered the stock one is 3-4 degrees higher then the Offy. Also all the bolt holes in Offy are 3/8ths. Now I’m thinking that this is for the later models. The are no model numbers on the Offy to confirm it.

So I’m at a cross road as to what I should do. I’m on a time and budget crunch. I think these are my options...

1. Mod the holes on the Offy and make it work. But I feel like I’m ruining a beautiful intake by doing that

2. Sell it and buy another early manifold that fits correctly. Time and budget is not my friend on this one.

3 Find a used performer and mod it to fit and be done with it. I would grind the angles of the holes and the mounting pads to work correctly

What would you do? I’m leaning heavily toward #3!
