Freaking nightmare just to repair a leaking power steering pump. Its electric and cost $1200.00, I got new o-rings and replacement tank to repair the leak myself for $79.00. Problem is it's a nightmare to get to.

Looks easier than changing a pressure hose on a front drive rack and pinion.

sucks, but not surprising. i see the duster's chillin' in the garage wondering why your cussing at the new kid when you could be out driving it

Then get rid of all the new junk and replace it with old.

was that $1200 for the dealer to R&R it, or just the price of the pump?

New stuff is made not serviceable as everything is bolted on then dropped into place with 1/2 inch clearance to everything. Chryco Minivan 3.8L water pump pulley didn't even have the clearance to get removed; you had to unbolt the pulley and rotate it off the spider mount so you could get a socket in the access holes and unbolt the pump then slide the whole pump off at its shear point. Solution is to take a grinder and lop 1/16 off the end of the shaft, now you can mount the pump with the pulley off and then slide pulley up and onto shortened pump shaft. 1 friggin 16th of an inch they could not give you!!! And the aftermarket replacement pump shaft did not have this mod. I even wrote them to tell them this.
