273 to 340 swap

Just another question as I will be going down this road myself (early pump/brackets on later timing cover) Are the timing marks EXACTLY 90 degrees offset? I guess I need to find myself a 273 timing tab piece as well.

So then if the markes are 90 degrees offset, couldn't I just attach the timing light to #8 and not re-mark the damper?
Here's what I did. I set the 340 to TDC using the indicator cast into the timing chain cover. I installed the earlier style timing tab and marked TDC with white paint. That way I can continue to use the timing tab that came with the car. Easy!
