Magnum reseal questions?..

Just thinking out loud. Thought the engine was coming out. Carry on.
Yes everything's running and working fine Beyond massive oil consumption and likely fuel mileage loss the truck is great..
I'm sure I've found the problem at least the major one it's had...
well ef it, I tried about 7 times to get a picture to post.. It was a picture of my intake with about a half a cup of black motor oil on the inside where it shouldn't be..

Gotcha. Again, reading the beginning of the post, it sounded like the engine was coming out. My bad. I know how much oil they consume with bad plenum.

I'm a one-man band and I got a little concerned being a first-timer pulling a magnum out of a four-wheel drive. It seems I would have had to have pulled the motor up out of the motor mounts and forward off the transmission.. getting and keeping the upward angle of the transmission so I can pull the motor off of it and put it back on then slip the motor down seem like quite a task.. I've done it on older 70s 4×4's, but they seem like they have so much more room and are simple... as much as I wanted to it just seemed like too much work for what I need at the time..

Day 3 and I'm finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel... Let's just hope it's not the train coming the other way to run me over! LOL...
I took the spark plug wires off then change the plugs and they were Auto lights that looked like they were colder than the stock plugs. I got the stock champions are called for.. that was a good choice the plugs were shot.. also changed the cap and rotor and they were for all intent and purposes shot as well..
I pulled the valve covers and got them cleaned up and also got all the surfaces on the engine prepped... I gave the keg and take a first cleaning.. it will still need a gasket scrape and find cleaning around the injectors.. I'm going to go ahead and get a little O ring gaskets for the injectors as the lower ones all seen hard.. upper radiator hose thermostat and valve cover gaskets.. I'm pretty sure they were all original..

Well it looks like I got her...
So far so good, I'll probably let her cool off and then try and give a little snug on the intake manifold...

:BangHead: puddle of antifreeze under the car this morning with a steady slow drip:BangHead:...
Radiator hose? no... heater hose? no.... definitely got to be the bypass tube? no.... out of the head gasket?? goodness sake NO...
Water pump blew...... Honestly it couldn't have happened at a better time. Everything's all clean and came off with a quickness... Couple gallons of antifreeze down the tubes, but I do a lot of winter driving so I'd rather it happen now than up in the mountains...

Seems like it is always something.
Well it haunted me at work today because it kept thinking what the heck.. I really took a good look at it this morning before I left, but I just really can't see a lot of stuff until I take the serpentine bracket off... Of course I was extremely happy to see the work that I did do to it was all good...

I bought it from a silver spoon kid who only had it for 6 months and his father had the transmission rebuilt the whole rear axle and brakes and everything rebuilt and they bought it with 116, 000 and I bought it with a hundred and twenty four thousand with 8 months still left on the transmission warranty at the time a little over a year ago.. It seems like everything I'm replacing is all Factory original...

I know I have an annoying leak around the bottom radiator hose on my duster.
I broke the engine in on my engine start stand, left it on their for 3 years before putting it in my Duster. No leaks.
The only thing I did was was remove the water pump, drop it in the Duster, install new gasket and it drips about 1/2 pint of antifreeze after sitting over the winter.
Annoying, maybe some time soon I will have time to tear the water pump back off and reseal.
Its actually such a small leak, but it still pisses me off. I cannot stand any leak on a vehicle.

okay I'm about 3 weeks now and a few short freeway trips and some driving around town and I don't seem to be losing any oil anymore and on uphill loaded acceleration no more pinging... I haven't been able to check my gas mileage but I was at 11.7 the last time I did and that was probably a combination of city and Highway... Just haven't had the money to fill it all the way up and then refill it up LOL.. anyways so far all indications are this was a good fix. Also along with the tune-up I put the correct spark plugs in which are actually a few heat ranges hotter than whatever they had in there and ironically it's running very noticeably cooler...:realcrazy:...

My brother picked up a couple MPG after I resealed his 94 V6 Dakota. Replace the O2 sensor soon as well. If the engine was moving oil, and those plugs confirm it was, the O2 sensor is junk.
