So I’ve decided I need to sell my Duster to support my family. My oldest daughter has been diagnosed with Autism. She turns 3 in January. I’ve accrued a lot of expenses to help her and there will be more.

Problem is that I’ve had a lot of problems with the rotating assembly and it needs a new crank - the thrust bearing didn’t survive the old torque converter. So the plan before was to do body work until I could replace the short block. It still runs and is the engine in my avatar. But I couldn’t get around to fixing the body or short block.

How would you guys go about a sale of a vehicle in this condition?

Be honest as possible. State your reason for selling it. Throw out a fair price with as many pictures as you can. That's a good start. :)

I have a 17 y.o and a 2 y.o with autism. My 17 yo boy doesn't have any interest in getting a drivers license. But kids change and I have seen kids with very severe neurological conditions actually grow out of it. If you need to sell the car to pay for developmental schools that's one thing but don't give up on the car because you have given up on your child having an interest in it. Been there. Wish i could do it over. All my best.

Agreed. There are many buyers out there right now. Open that sale thread and sell away.

Thanks, friends. My daughter is wonderful it’s just my wife needs to quit her job to take care of her. A thought in my mind is that I could possibly make more if I were to part out the high ticket items (turbo, headers, fuel injection setup, etc) and sell the rest separately. I second guess that idea since it currently runs and drives.

Runs and drives is good. If you have to extra parts to sell start another sale thread for those. Sorry to hear about your daughter.

I don’t have any extra parts to sell. I’d have to remove the high $ parts and sell them off and then sell the remainder of the Duster in hopes of making more money that way. You’re right, running and driving is a great selling point and is probably the best way to go about selling.

I’d hate to sell it. My kids love it. I don’t have the time nor money to keep it around unfortunately.

Not the greatest time of year to sell. Unless you are pressed for time/money. i would try to wait until first come up of spring. Then I would try to sell it first as a whole complete vehicle. Failing that, I would move on to parting out.

Prayers to you and your family.

Good luck with sale!! Nice car, Beautiful kids !!! Best wishes!!!

Saying a prayer for you and your family.
Sometimes letting go of things open doors to better things.

Yes family always first. I also would try to sell complete. If no luck then part. Best of luck pal. Prayers for you and your Family.

You have some beautiful kids. Trying to sell a project is hard. I see them listed for sale all the time. It's hard to recover your investment. I hope it all works out.

First of all my thoughts and most important my prayers. Look at post 8 what if at say she 14 she wants to know what happened to that car daddy? Don't tell her you sold it for x amount and regret it. Life is hard and GOD never gives us more than we can handle. We don't know what the future holds make sure it will be what you will not regret. That said we don't take anything with us when we go and family is always too priority! Best wishes
