1972 Fender extensions with a 1971 Grille
The '71 grille will work with the '72 extensions and chrome. While the '72 is visually a little different, it mounts pretty much exactly the same as the '70/'71 grille. The headlight surround sections of the grille are identical on the back, again, the only difference is the cosmetic appearance of the fins. The depth/thickness of all the grille pieces are the same. There are also plenty of people out there running '70 or '71 grilles in their '72 Darts and Demons. The only thing you can't do is run the "shallow" trim on the "deep" extensions, or vice versa. As long as the trim is matched to the extension you can run the extensions with either grille.

And some pictures. I had some '72 pieces at one point so I have compared them side by side. I don't have them anymore so the '72 pictures are sourced from the internet so the angles of all the pictures aren't identical. You can pretty clearly see though that the differences in the headlight surrounds and grilles are purely cosmetic.
