1969 Daily Driver

So I changed out the the stock 2bbl for a holley style 350 CFM part number 0-7448. The stock super six carb was a learning curve for real and not many after market parts for them at all. I had to drill my own jets and polish metering rods to get what I wanted. This was a long process that lasted many months of tuning to get the max power and efficiency out of the engine since this is my daily driver. The best I could get was 23.3 and that was all freeway miles driving to Phoenix from San Diego. This drive does also require you going from sea level to 4,100 ft going east to below sea level to 4,200 ft going west from the desert floor. Now best mileage I ever got with real world driving is 19.1mpg with my average being 18.5mpg. I drive 50 miles a day in stop/go So Cal morning traffic so to get those numbers I would say is fairly good with my cruising speed 75mph. Now since I believe that I have reached the limit of what this Carb can do I have switched to something that is A LOT more user friendly. I went with a Holley 0-7448. I know Holley carbs forward and backwards with a mountain of notes from my Dyno tuning days. This was as simple as pulling it out of the box, changing jets, power valve, setting float height, and pump shot. Bolted it on and boom near perfect numbers right off the bat. Today was the first long drive with it "25 miles" to work with the wide band hooked up. This thing is LIGHT years ahead of the factory 2 bbl so far with power delivery and just over all drivability but only time will tell if it is better with fuel mileage. Since the end goal is mileage I will be keeping track like I always do and posting real numbers as this goes along. I really hope this carb works better because when I hook up the 200 4r trans next month this carb has brackets that will make this easier. I want easier since this is my daily and Crower is only close for two weeks for Christmas and new years. Plus I need some time on this before the Ziptie drags to get this all tuned up for shift points so on and so on.
