My '62 Dodge Lancer and '57 Chevy don't have that issue. The Chevy even has the original tube type radio (works fine after tubes warm up) and 12 volt generator. I think I'll leave them both without adding any electronics. Breaker point ignition isn't hard to maintain and G-d forbid...... If some idiot with their finger on 'the button' ever sets off a global wide nuclear conflagration and we survive the initial blast and resulting EMP...... Maybe we can make it as far up into the hills as we can get on a tank of gas and a couple 5 gallon gas cans....... And spend the remainder of our lives doing our part to repopulate the earth.
