I just got the new 4150 style Holley Sniper EFI kits. I like the new design. It looks like it is going to work pretty well on a BB Mopar engine. Not sure when I'll have it running, could be a few weeks I suppose since I don't have anything ready to go right now.

i was just looking into that yesterday.. debating on what system i want to go with. heard good things about the sniper and the support, i like the new edelbrock kit but it looks like it may be too high to fit under the hood and i have heard they have questionable support. a friend did the ez efi from fast and its been good to him bit others say the support isn't there either.... i will not do fitech. heard way too many issues with it. mega squirt sounds cool too but it may be too advanced for a beginer like myself..

so keep us posted on this sniper kit.. did you get the distribitor too so it can control timing??

For what it's worth, I installed the MSD Atomic on my 440. It works perfect. It doesn't get a lot of press since Holly bought MSD.

Can't see Holley developing/supporting 2 lines of TBI...wonder if one line will be dropped or consolidated? That new Holley looks better than the old stuff. Make it gold! Im wondering when CA will mandate all existing carbs to be migrated to this bolt on EFI style kit with a subsidy to assist low-income people..like the analog to digital TV changeover.

ok so there is a :

sniper stealth
sniper self tuning
4150 super sniper 650.. is that what you are running?

now i have to research all three again. i got all confused..lol

they have it in gold..

Looks like lol.... What I am curious about is what makes this next generation of Sniper better than the previous.... As for looks, it is what it is. I don't plan on running around without an Airclearner so the new design would hold no water to me personally if this new style is all about the appearance.

I like the 4150 design in gold. The MSD has the injectors shooting through venturis, unique design.

It looks better, but idk if its $100 cooler.

If you have a big block Mopar I'd spend the extra $100 to get the 4150 style Sniper. The cables come out the back, the timed vacuum port is in the front, the throttle linkage lines up better with a stock bracket, etc. You do have to buy an external regulator so that adds some money and you might need a dual inlet type of feed so that might add some money depending on what you currently have for fuel lines.

I've installed those before. They seem to work okay but the features are really limited. I doubt the Atomic will be around much longer since the Sniper is roughly the same cost but has a ton more capability. Holley is probably just trying to figure out how to gracefully shut down the Atomic.

There are more than that! There are 2bbl Snipers and QJet Snipers and 4500 version Snipers. It does get confusing. For the typical big block engine I just ask a customer how much power they plan to make. Up to 600 or 650 hp you use a regular Sniper in the color you want. For more than that there is the Sniper XFlow which can go up to 800 hp on a 4150 bolt pattern. Then there is the Super Sniper if the customer wants to monitor oil pressure and fuel pressure with the Sniper.

The 4150 Sniper is a different form factor and it works better on some engines. Holley doesn't really explain this but the throttle linkage on the regular Sniper doesn't line up with factory throttle brackets. Also, on a regular Sniper the wires come out the front so they get close to the distributor on a big block. It is better to have the wires come out the back on a big block so they stay away from the spark plug wires.

so on my mild 360 id go regular sniper? will that control timing too? i want the one that will control the timing. i know i would need the dist to go with it.. i see it learns but what one can also be tuned?

Yes, on a mild 360 I'd go with the inexpensive regular Sniper. Maybe even buy one of the factory refurbished ones for $799. Add the Hyperspark distributor and you're ready to go. You'll need a new gas tank with the pump in the tank. You can get a new tank from Holley or Tanks Inc. You'll have to add a return line to the car and you'll need a high quality 10 micron fuel filter in the pressure line.

You can tune any of the Snipers with a laptop but you have to buy the laptop cable from Holley and then download the software to your laptop from the Holley website.

Wrong ,
F.A.S.T. had excellent support for me . I plugged the new fuel pick up in my tank where I cut the sock off, and capped it outside the tank too. Forgot about it when I switched to fuel inj, as I had put dual outlets in the back of the new tank. I couldn't get the fuel pressure set on it because the return went back in to the original new fuel outlet in front , w/ the thing still plugged inside . a LOT OF PHONE CALLS ,AND THEY EVEN SENT ME A WHOLE OTHER 2.0 KIT , still no fuel pressure , would hit 75# and kick the pump off. Then Dave at fast told me it sounded like a return line blocked , "bang head" (mine) , remembered the capped feed inside from previous set up !
FAST was fantastic to me !~ wiring comes out the back , looks like a big black carb, controls timing , and can keep an eye on all engine parameters all the time , leaving hand held hooked up and mounted to the dash-----1200 cfm throttle body-----tells me everything but oil pressure , gauge for that.

well maybe not for you but a good friend of mine they have been horrible with.

Almost bet that he went about the start of the conversation wrong -----------I didn`t have a bit of trouble with anyone I talked to down there.
Dave seemed to be the best tho-----------even gave me his personal cell # , Was about 6ish yrs ago.

My advice, become a member of the dedicated EFI groups on Facebook. Look through the past 30-days of posts to see if any system is truly for you.

those guys are all over the place. on a holley page and holy **** a lot like the sniper, others say stay away from it and spend 1200 more for the terminator and others are having a ton of issues..

Considering millions of factory 1980's era TBI EFI systems would run in excess of 200,000 miles without major failure, every aftermarket system on the market is completely unreliable in comparison.

These systems are not OEM quality, although most of the user serviceable components are OEM. The Holley Sniper EFI is by far, the most refined TBI EFI unit with the most capable software.

Everyone loves these units until they fail, most failures are at the least opportunistic time. It's not a question of if, but when will a major component stop functioning. Issues that aren't issues with carburetion, become major deadlines with EFI [RFI / EMI / Grounds / Voltage etc]. Unless the ECU is mounted inside the car and you carry a spare parts kit [ECU / Injector / Pump / TPS / CTS / IAC etc], I wouldn't consider switching to EFI.

Edelbrock EFI uses mostly GM sensors and a Magnetti-Marelli controller, same as Fiat/Chrysler. That stuff has a pretty good track record nowadays if you dont look too closely at M-M's past history. Sort of the Lucas of Italy.

Yes, most all of these systems utilize OEM sensors. Edelbrock looks like the most promising unit, as the ECU is remote mounted, no different than the Terminator kit from Holley. I haven't looked into it, but from what I've heard you cannot data log on the Edelbrock, is that correct?

No idea, I got the Gen 1 turkey. Can't even burn a tune on it, must get tune from Edelbrock on a chip an install, then you can tweak its parameters via the palm controller. Could probably get a EEPROM burner and do it yourself (GM style chip) with the original image to see its file structure. I got the 'Performer RPM' build on a chip along with an RPM Camshaft so I should be good but I stroked it so Ill probably have to richen the fuel curve globally or turn up the pressure. Or Junk the controller and use my MS2 or DIYEFI Jaguar 0.7 controller on its hardware and get complete control (almost too much as there are some strange parameters in there that dont apply to all builds).
