Hey all, I’ve been churching up my interior. I redid one in black and argent with silver spax airbrush paint, one coat makes for an actual chrome looking result. So anyway, I bought a woodgrain top/black bottom half. Looking for an idea other than melting the GB trim fish on the back side of the GB trim and replace over the black. I guess I would take any broken trim that includes the fish and script from the glove box plastic trim. Now that I have one with the upper applicant I need a black lower with silver trim and fish.

That looks real nice Ron. Are you saying you need another GB trim piece?
I wish mine turned out that nice.

I'm a bit confused. The fish is molded into the trim piece. the script is added on top and held with melt stakes. If you have a overlay, the fish would be cut out of it, then script added on top. Like...

So yes, that is the kind of application, I want mine in black, the fish is not molded to the plastic, but melted posts like the gauge cluster glass. All the ones I find have a part number that says nofish preceeding it

Still confused. I'll guess "all I find" refers to reproduction trim pieces.
All OEM B'cuda glovebox trims had the fish molded in, plus a small groove behind the fish that must have had something to do with material cooling or proper mold injection. Other models like Demon, etc.. had nothing on that trim piece. You might whittle a fish from a OEM piece but it wouldn't have stakes. Super glue? Fender fish is a lot larger. No simple solution.

I think all 67-9 barracuda glove box trim piece was argent silver?
I think Redfish custom decaled his gb to match his custom dash. Well done too Redfish!

The 69 M-code 'cuda had all black and chrome ( no argent ) instrument bezels but I don't know that they had fish and script on their glovebox door. As for mine, someone coined the phrase "regal fish" LOL
Back when I was backlighting the switch marques, I had the idea that I would replace that fish on the glovebox door with clear one and light it too. It is/was doable with the fiber optic materials I was utilizing. When one project didn't fund the next, I was dead in the water.

you are correct. It looks like they all came argent silver, except when woodgrain lower and black upper. So Redfish, the repro overlays I have found in black do not have provisions for the fish. I could paint it, but I want it to look right. I figured a blank black one with a loose fish from a broken donor might do

I have not been able to find a bottom black glovebox trim veneer, they all seem to be black on top woodgrain bottom and GB. I just think the argent looks aloof, and the black naked.

If you do have a OEM trim piece with the fish, look on ebay for a overlay kit. If you don't find exactly what you want, contact Detroit Muscle Technologies directly.
I bought his overlay kit for B'cuda with the fish cutout but special ordered for the piece without radio provision. I cut my climate controller out of it.
