ALERT!! SOUND THE ALARM!!..

I must use restraint, I must use restraint. I have used valves here, 600 lift double springs, 10 degree retainers and keepers. I must resist. I just wrote a 2800.00 check for School taxes Wednesday.
Those prices are ridiculous, they must be making them from all the recycled pop cans they bought from us,I am tempted to get a pair of the cnc heads just for the hell of it!

I say go for it. You can grind on them and if you find some air or water I'll TIG them up for you!!

Damn, trying to sort through the small block heads but my slow internet on my phone makes it not fun. Might have to wait until cyber Monday.

Just a bare pair for me if I jump. Anyone need any used parts. Lol.

What do you mean you can't use "that flow" at the moment?

That doesn't make any sense to me.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse anyone.
Going on an stock-ish 340 street car. The cam and intake system can't make use of the extra flow that would be available at higher lifts from the big port/valve Shocker 185. So it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend $1000 bucks now for performance that will not manifest itself until a new motor is put together. Sorta like putting a set of TF or W2's on a 340/360 but not changing anything else, it should make more power, but there is going to be a lot more head than the engine can use.
The 171 version flows same or a little better than the Edelbrock heads and that will be a good improvement from the J-heads and still be balanced.

Any idea the difference in the flat tappet and roller heads?

I think a lot of you guys are going to be pleasantly surprised when you get yours. The stuff that Colorado speed said I don't believe. The finish on my heads where damn near perfect. Like I said I'm other threads, I bought them bare.

I don't think I would buy anyone's assembled heads and not go through them. The rough mounting surface I heard is common with 440 source stuff, although I have never tried them no anything to know.

Whoever told you that was wrong. I can show you how wrong that is.

30 years ago heads like these weren't available. So look around. These heads are so big you can't use them. Today, guys are using heads on street cars that were unthinkable 30 years ago. Why? Because they were wrong back then too. You just couldn't get the stuff.

You can run a much better head, use a smaller cam and make more power everywhere.

Or, you can use a head that is low on flow, and then add more cam so it will RPM where you want it and it will be a weak suck down low and a pooch in the low middle.

A good head is worth every penny.

agree. I was putting home ported 360 heads cut .045 on 318's trying to help them breathe. Even with a 360 2bbl cam a person might think it was a 340.

I had Summit price match my studs. They would only price match them with shipping for 65 and then with a dollar off of that so I got them for 64 and the intake gaskets that are down to seven they price match and beat them by a dollar for 6 bucks. Then I ordered the $46 gasket kit for that 318. Which has the 8553 head gaskets that I want for the duster that I don't need for the 318 and I'll just use the brand new valve cover gaskets for the duster and put my used ones on the 318..
Ended up 116 which got free shipping for everything kind of...
