1969 Dodge Dart Pro-Street 440

Well the water pump housing does not have a recess for a restrictor plate. Nor does the t stat housing...

The engine builder says no t stat. The radiator company becool said to use one. Or a restrictor plate minimum. That the water moves through the engine too fast with out it.

So I decided to work backwards. I installed a GM t stat from a cutlass. 195*. It was like .005 too big for the hole in the water pump house. So I filed a few of the edges and crammed it in. Fits super right so it should not leak or fall out.

I started the car. Let it run. Burped the system. And let it run some more. Temp stayed at 190 the whole time.

So far so good.
