New springs are necessary for any new camshaft, regardless of application. But it's your truck and if you want to cut corners that shouldn't be cut, then have at it. I don't give a crap what your opinion is, it's wrong here. If that's what you want, just leave the engine alone. That's what I'd do. I would leave the engine as is and concentrate on making the body nice.
