Hey guys:

Well, it looks like going cheap bit me again. I've been replacing floor pans in my '68 and bought drop-ins for the front and then the rear because I didn't trust my amatuer metal fabrication skills with doing full pan halves. In hindsight, that's what I should have done.

I bought the cheapest front pans I could find from Year One. No telling where they were made, but I suspect not on these shores. Maybe? I dunno. They fit very well and looked exactly like the pans I cut out. There was one spot under the gas pedal that needed heating and stretching because the stamping was too shallow, but really nothing major.

So, fresh off that victory, I went back to Year One for the rears. Well, rears are quite expensive, which should have been a warning. So, I went to eBay and shopped around. I ended up ordering 2 rear drop-ins(that's what I call them) from this place...C2Cfabrication based right in the Motor City. I've already searched their name here before starting this post, and I know they are Veteran-owned and that they are promoted here with discounts, so this will probably tick off a few people, but it is what it is!

This is what I pulled out of the box. I know what the stickers say, and what the receipt says, but what is this? Is this a joke? These couldn't have been stamped on a press. This is flat metal that has been bent on a brake with token impressions made to replicate the deep strengthening ribs on the original Mopar floor pans.

This looks like someone held up a picture of a Dart rear floor pan to someone standing several feet away, or maybe via Facetime, and the other person says, "Yeah, I can probably make something like that". What makes this so much more of a piss-off isn't the fact that I wasted money on these things, but that it's slathered all over everywhere that it's MADE IN THE USA. I would do the usual rueful shaking of my head and resignation to make it work if these things had came over from the far reaches of the Pacific Rim, but they didn't!! The China "crap" looks tons better than this!

Despite these pictures, someone is GOING to defend this, maybe because it's so and so, and we love so and so, blah blah blah. I don't care. This is an extremely poor replication of floor pans. If qualified R&D and labor is still so expensive even in Detroit so that this is the best they can do at this price point, I suggest they stop selling them before their reputation goes down the drain. If anyone still doubts that these things are a joke perpetrated on us...I haven't started working on the left one yet and I'll be glad to post a video showing how they fit AS PRODUCED.

My floors aren't that bad, so I can use about half of these for my repairs, but otherwise I would have sealed the box back up and they would have had them sitting on their doorstep.
P.S. the last picture is of the fronts, for comparison sake.

Made in America.....PFFFTTT!!!!!!!!

thanks for the heads up,,made in the USA is no guarantee of quality or value, just look at the recent crop of kneeling NFL players.

That first picture looks like a slide in tray for a rabbit coup poop catcher. We used those exact fronts on a Demon recently. They fit nice, Set them in traced around them and left a 1/2 inch lip on the original floor. Then fit the pinch weld in the front nice so we clamped them there and screwed the rest down. welded them solid removed the screws and welded the holes. Afterward we seam sealed the underside. and under coated them before paint.

Is that first picture of the rears from the same company? If so I'll tell the guy not to get them for the rear of the Demon.

Yikes! I just ordered some floor pans for my truck from there...
it was too hard to pass up they were $100 less than the last time I had ordered them from someone else for my son's truck..
Plus 13% off for Black Friday...

What part of the floor is that supposed to be?
Here is an AMD full floor pan.

Are you sure they sent you the correct part?

Yes, everything except the last picture was the same outfit that I DON'T recommend. Stick with Year One or some other known outfit. Thanks for those pictures, that's exactly what I'm doing.

I bought some of their junk for my '53 Chrysler.

Looked like some kid in high school sheet metal shop did them for his first project. Absolute crap.

I bought a set for our ‘55 Coronet as they were the only place making them. Same experience, they were not stamped pans but rather something that was made with a bead roller and a brake. The fit wasn’t particularly great, but since there was nothing else to work with for that body style I made them work.

FYI for anyone using them, they also had some kind of coating on them. Probably zinc based given what came off of them when I welded them in. They weren’t galvanized but it was kinda similar. Needless to say I’d make my own pans before buying anything from them again.

That looks like a three year old made them. Here's what mine looked like for my 64. They just literally fell right in and begged for the mig welder. You can see I had to add about a 6" wide strip all the way across, but that wasn't the pan's fault. I had more rust than the pan would cover. I also matched the beads in the pan with my added strips with my bench vise and a deep socket and hammer. Crude but effective. Thanks for posting this. I am sorry this happened to you, but now we know who not to purchase from. That's bullshit.

I’ve observed those before before. You get what you pay for. I never paid for them. Sherman are totally fine. Those are crap.

When I started on the front driver’s floor pan in my 65, I ordered one from them. Same deal - looked like it was made with a brake and bead roller. I sent it back and ordered one from Autobody Specialties. It was virtually a drop in with some minor trimming. Lesson learned - you get what you pay for! Autobody got my money for the passenger front a rear pans. Didn’t need the driver’s rear but if I did, Autobody would have got my money.

The box they came in is the best part of them.
How are they still in business?
Oh yeah, that's right, ''Made in the U.S.A.'' and CHEAP..........

Yup, whole buncha suckers. Or in my case, they do make some panels that no one else does. Although yeah, I’d totally make my own if their stuff was my only choice again.

Where's the emoticon of the little smiley guy throwing up?

Maybe that's on Arfcom.

This Thread started just after I ordered floorboards for a D100 that I'm working on.. it sure made me nervous as I noticed the driver's side was just a flipped carbon copy picture of the passenger side. It didn't have the correct Contours for the driver side..
I just received my package and the shipping was quite quick on their end but of course FedEx LOL I won't even get into them...
Absolutely elated with my product as it was the same exact floorboards that I ordered for $100 more for my son's Power Wagon two years ago. They were exact proper parts.. good thick material with the proper Factory Contours...
I kind of tossed them into place two double make sure and I I'm so happy I saved $100 this time. For the same exact floorboards I got from somebody else.
$68 to the door with a Black Friday 13% off code.. would have been 75... Last time I paid 168 to the door.. thank you classic2current!...

What year of D100 ?

Mine is a 73. I think as a remember yours was the older year? For some reason they said 71 to 93.. I wasn't aware of the 71 had the same floor boards... I thought 72 would be the first year on up?
Mine is a 70 but I always thought it's the same truck as a 71

well you can see the pictures and the last post of the thread that I just mentioned and see if that looks like yours? Or if you want to go through pages and pages I did them in a 76 Truck which is the same thing for my son in a thread called more purposeful truck under General discussion..
I always thought 71 and older was different..

Where did they claim they were an exact stamped replacement for the original?

Ok so you thought there would be... fine. Send them back.

I've built many floor pan repair panels. Spent bukoup bucks on a Pexto shear Chicago brake and a vintage 40 ton iron worker plus the mig welder and hammers/ dollies. No one will ever replicate the factory parts exactly without investing thousands in dies. But a well built replacement piece will work just as good and nobody will be the wiser.

Like I said...send them back. I've done it more than once....
