I got a problem. For hours I have been trying to remove the left manifold from my 65 273. As explained in the book and video, I have removed everything before (brake booster, linkage to transmission, exhaust pipes and braces. But I just can't pull the manifold out. No matter how I turn it or move it around, the end always gets stuck between the engine and the steering linkage. Does anyone have a tip?

You can loosen the drivers side motor mount, the one nut underneath the car, and gently jack the motor up just enough to slip the manifold out. Use a block of wood between the oil pan and a jack.

I thought the starter needed to be removed then it would snake up from the bottom? I could be way off, hadnt had manifolds since '98. loosen mount nut under frame and jack for clearance. did yours have a brace? What plant was it built at, seems LA plant cars didnt get the brace?

Thanks, gonna try it like this on saturday

I jack it up and put a big deep socket between the k frame and the motor mount. Holds it up while you have your hands in there.

Disconnect the steering column from the steering.box. you may also have to remove the valve covers to give you a little more room. Just went through this last week on a 65 Barracuda.
