bored at work and was thinking about all the cars i used to have , my best deal was 37 years ago 1970 roadrunner a guy drove it from Texas to Michigan , slid around a corner with it and hit a pole put a little dent in it parked it and sold it to me two years after he wrecked it 150 bucks ,hammered out the dent good to go.

Not an old car, but I bought a 99 cougar once
Got a good enough deal on it that I drove it for a year, totalled it, and the check the insurance cut me after my 1000 dollar deductible l, was still more then 1000 more then what I paid for it

around 1985, my first 69' 340 swinger. completely original running driver. $300

I picked up a 72 demon. Had the scoop, 8-3/4" rear with deep gears. Traded for a $20 tape player and a 15" subwoofer I found. Ended up selling it for $750, bought it back a few years later for $500.

One of my best deals was in 1977 or 78. 69 GTX with a fresh jasper short block. About 2 miles and anti freeze was gushing out so he sold it to me for the price of the short block.
Took it to my buddies house and but 2 new head gaskets on it. Drove it for a year then sold it for 3 times what I paid for it. Bought it back for 1/2 what I sold it for and drove it for another year . Then sold it agin for twice what I had bought it back for.
It was a running Hosa with no rust and a 440 4sp dana.

My latest Best Deal is I traded a dana 60 trac lock and an 8 3/4 power loc and 2.76 gear set for a 2000 4x4 5.9 standard cab.
It's my beater with a heater daily driver now.

Traded a microwave oven for this old beast. Plowed with it for the first 4 years I had it, I have the plow on my new plow truck, but the old green beast will still fire up and run! I’d say that was a pretty good deal.

Almost forgot...my winter beater
A 2008 dodge charger
Bought it in 2009 for 10k
I could probably sell it for that much now

Well, i would have to say it would be the 1971 Hemi GTX, 4 speed car that i bought for $2,900.00
Pretty much the condition that you see it in the picture, except for the Rallye Wheels.

Got this car and about $2500 worth of parts for $900, the guy was asking $949. Had a 71 360 and 727 trans in it, and it fired right up. Sold the car for $1800, still have a bunch of parts that came with it, and sold a bunch more. This was 2 years ago.

74 Dart more door. Was my kfirst car 8n 1983. The original owner gave it to dad because it needed work. A tune up and 2 tires. Sold it 6 months later for $950 cuz another guy gave dad a 71 Swinger /6 car that was blown up.. Dropped a free used slant in it and drove it for about 6 months. Sold it to the same guy who bought the 74 for $800. Why ? Because I had the disease and bought a 71 318 Bcuda for $1500.

Fast forward to 96. Bought a daily driver very solid 69 2dr Coronet for $750.

Another good deal My buddy and I went in on two 71 ,72 roadrunners a duster don’t remember the year and a sport satellite blue with white interior 1500 for all, those where the days. The only thing wrong with them was the duster had bad valve guides

I guess about four that tie each other,
1990 hemi orange black bucket interior, 71 Demon, A body dana, no motor 4 speed in the trunk FREE
1989 69 Dodge Charger, 440 auto, rebuilt motor just sitting in the bay, FREE
1990 Original 71 340 4 speed duster, shark grill never wrecked, they were trying to back half it and gave up, came with A Morrison rails and parts $1500
2002 one owner 1964 2 drht Dodge 440, black, red bucket interior, original 426 wedge, 4 speed, all drive train disassembled and in the trunk. $1500
All these were on the island of Oahu while I was stationed there, the 64 was here just north of Atlanta

About four years ago ..Super clean 1970 Duster 340/4-speed 62,000 miles, numbers car. $10k. First to show up, a couple came right behind me. I knew when I saw it and talked less than five minutes with the owner the car was right. The other guy was underneath it at all for corners. Heard him whisper to his wife it's perfect. I asked the owner how he would deal with the two of us here. He said who ever says they want it. Before the other guy got to his feet I told him I'll take it at your price. The wife said wait a minute we were here first, but the guy selling it saw me walking in the driveway before them. Then she said we have cash and we'll give you more. The guy was old school and said that won't be happening. Integrity is a dying art.

Well, I made tons of deals on muscle Mopars 35 years ago that would make people cry today including a ‘68 383 Superbee for $600. But that was then, and it was a different time.

Today, my best deal was a survivor ‘69 GTS with 72k original miles and full documentation of its history back to the original purchaser for $22k.

It looked like this shortly after I first got it...

And it looks like this today...with some investment, but not as much as it’s worth now.

And I have no intention of ever selling it.

My 65 "S" survivor "warehouse" find, $800. Bought it in 1994, had 1976 tags and still had bias ply tires on it. Not a dent on it, 100% stock and complete as far as I could tell, although it had the wrong color paint on in from the fender tag.
I got a Diesel rabbit for $200 and I got it to run with a new head gasket. Didnt run real good but enough to sell it for $500. 1971 Honda AN600, $400, ran for about 3 miles. Bought another with the next paycheck for $300, fixed and drive both for a year. 1982 Mazda pickup with a camper shell, $500. Drove it L.A. to Canada and back 4 weeks later, never missed a beat. sisters had worse luck: MG kit car on a VW chassis, bad brakes. 1970 Fiat 850 spider, bad everything. '70 SAAB 99, just weird. 65 Rambler with a 4 banger, pretty cool.

1970 Dart Custom 2 dr ht, 318/904, complete, with 4 rallye wheels, all center caps, and trim rings, not running but all there, $70.00
1966 Chrysler New Yorker 4 dr ht, 440 full load, $50.00, drove it home
1983 Mercury Cougar 2 dr ht, 5.0, loaded, $100.00, drove it 2 years, sold it for $1500.00
1996 Mercury Sable wagon, full load, $250.00, Wife drove it for 4 years, sold it for $400.00
1989 Lincoln Mark 7, paid $225.00, totaled by hail damage, insurance paid out $5000.00
2002 Ford Expedition, paid $2200.00, drove it for 2 years, sold it for $9500.00
Plenty of others, but I'm a cheap *** S.O.B. too lol

In 1977 I bought a very spent 69 Super Bee 383 (not original) 4sp for $1200. I was a little rough around the edges but overall nice. Big money for a Sp4 in the Army. One day while running down the highway, it blew as it had a very tall gear in it. After letting it set for about a year I traded it for a beautiful 66 Fury III that had overheating issues. It was white with a red interior. This care was flawless. After a new radiator, I drove it for 2 years & stupidly traded it in for a new 81 Mirada! Boy did that dealer get a great deal!!! LOL

My best was the 67 GTS I bought brand new from Carl Price, Lincoln, Mercury Dodge in Jasper, Al for $2800.

70 Newport ragtop. Bought it for $275. Put the interior and all the glass in the 69 Furyragtop and sold the body/motor for $500.

Speaking of the Fury. Original owner gave it to me in 99. Spent 5 years picking/learning at it. Drove it for 14 years and just sold it this past summer.

Oh yeah... 88 Dakota 4banger 5 spd. Dude gave it to me because his buddy took the engine apart and didn't know how to put it back together. I put it back together with all the old gaskets just to see if it would run. BINGO! Sold it a week later for $800.

'70 Charger S/E 500 bought it in 1988 for $2100 it was in perfect condition.
'71 'Cuda 383 Butterscotch w/billboards 1998 for $9800 thought that was a really good deal too.

Best deal I ever made was selling my ‘70 T/A 4 speed which I paid $1700 for Sold it for $1900 2 years later. Even had those ugly slats in the back window. Made $200 on a “used” car.:BangHead:

The 76 d100 I bought for $200 in 93. Only had 64k on the clock. Needed 1 rocker arm. Drove it daily for 2 years and sold it for $850.

My first car 1953 Plymouth Cambridge $39.95
1967 Convertible Dart GT 273, auto, A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes $100
