Sbm x block

Update- Finally got around to getting 2nd opinion on x block. I sent block to Bill Richardson in Lynchburg VA. I had explained over phone to him about the dilemma with the block. He got block and inspected the main bore alignment and said no problem he can do it. The bores he sonic tested and said it could go to 4.10 no problem maybe more after it was bored and getting a smoother surface. He said core shift looked very good and block is a very good casting. So it went from being a table or conversation piece to a very good block..very relieved to hear. Block will be machined by Bill and lifter bores bushed. Thanks all of you for your inputs. Greatly appreciated and if you have a situation that doesn't sound right definitly get 2nd opinion...

That's what I said from the get go. You can't accurately measure a rough bored block. The R block I now have is much smoother (but still was too rough) to get an accurate sonic test.

I'm glad you found a shop that understands this.

Keep us updated on the build. Should be fun.
