Have a 67 with a slant K. Have Schumacher mounts to put in a 340. I’m converting from manual to power steering. Found a power column same year, and now my local U pull it has a 73 valiant With power steering and drum brakes. If I use the box from the 73, what hurdles will I have to jump? I read my 67 k has a 1 year only pitman, but I also read I’ll need a large sector pitman and matching idler arm from a 73 up. Do I need to get the center link also if I take the ps box, and will a 73-76 idler/pitman fit my 67 k if I do go that way. If anyone can square me up on this I’d appreciate it. Btw I’m not using headers, I have a set of hp manifolds if it’s relative. Thanks guys...

Because you have the 67 idler, it will not work with the 73 up center link. Your easiest solution would be to find a 72 back P/S box which will be a small sector box. Also the 73 idler arm won't work with your 67 K-member.

^^Correct^^ The parts which "must fit together" is the idler arm, the pitman, and the center link, and so of course the box must fit the pitman. It is possible to fab up the mount for the idler so it fits a 68/ later idler and then you could use either setup.

confused, steering gear compatibility

Got it..... thanks so much for the help fellas.... it makes total sense to me now....

Sooooo....from the 73 grab the K member, center link, pitman and idler AND box. That way when you convert to discs, the world is much easier. I did my 67 roundabout! Like totally the wrong way.

Oh, and grab the LCAs for the swaybar tabs already welded on for when you put a swaynar on.

I would use everything from and for the 73 parts car . I converted a 67 Valiant from 6 to 8 and used a 71 duster I had for all the parts like the K and the motor mount brackets and center link .Then I used all new parts for a 71. It worked out real well and was like factory when finished
