ALERT!! SOUND THE ALARM!!..

Yes. I'm going to make an educated guess you'll need to correct the geometry on those heads.

B3racingengines.com and read his tech articles if you haven't already.

I emailed Michael earlier this week about one of his correction kits, to quote:

"Short of a Trick Flow head, you will definitely need to have the shafts modifed for any SB Mopar geometry correction. They are all copies of a factory head when it comes to the shaft to valve relationship."

I am trying to wrap my head (pun intended) around this. Are you guys suggesting someone purchasing the Speedmaster Top End Engine Combo Kit (pictured) would need to modify the geometry to get them to work?

They will work and the car will run, but the implication is that the geometry is never right with aftermarket head and roller rockers so a tune up is needed to get the most out of the system. For a mildish daily driver it probably wouldn't matter but the hotter the setup and higher RPMs, supposedly optimized geometry begets better results.

Yes. Exactly correct. Most guys don't know or don't care so they run stuff like that. The fix is now simple, easy and cheap.

No reason to have junk geometry any more.

So, I like the price of the heads but not the service, freaking goofballs. They did not have the rockers in stock but the heads were, silly me I figured they would ship the heads out and send the rockers later, well after two days and no tracking number I give them a call.
The response was we have to ship everything together wtf?????, so I asked if they can send the heads now and they said they would get back to me.
So today no email or anything, I call up again and they say oh, we can send the heads if you want to cancel the rockers, what a bunch of goons, the funny part is it seems like they shipped some incomplete orders to various guys on here lol.

I guess it must be really confusing working with Chinese and Australian parts :realcrazy:

Geometry matters. Chrysler didn't send their stuff off the assembly line with the geometry off.

So what is this kit that b3 sells? Are they shims or something different? I am interested.

you don't remember them sending me the Ford heads first? And then I had to call them and get them sent back and then call them daily to make sure they sent my heads out.
It just cost them more in the end..

They are shims that raise the move the shaft AWAY from the valves. To fix the geometry the shaft has to go up and away from the valves or you didn't do anything. That's what his shims do, and you can't get them anywhere except from him. And he has to make them for your application.

J Par, just watched your Rodney D link....That was some funny Chit!
Rodney ws Great, may he RIP!
If you ever get a chance to watch his autobiography it's really something..
What he went through as a small child and how he became such a good father and instead of touring as a comedian started his own club so he can stay in one place to take care of his kids and much more...

FWIW....... this one and an actual Comp Pro-magnum fit just fine.

The rocker that had the contact with the retainer was a PRW, which I’m told is the same as the SM rockers....... but I haven’t had a SM rocker in my hand, so I can’t say for sure.

My head studs and intake manifold gaskets are in town and on the truck for delivery... I went through Summit so any problems and they have to deal with them..

I seem to recall Speedmaster had purdy aluminum rocker sets that were spec'd for 1.25" springs. I bought the stainless steel set since that is what they use for their top end kit.

They either clear......... or they don’t.
Simple as that.

The head in the pics have the as supplied SM flat tappet dual springs(1.46 diameter iirc).

The Crane and Comp rockers had plenty of clearance...... the PRW didn’t.

I see mine are in possession of FED-X. They have left the building!

FedEx lost mine, last place they scanned it was in IL over two days ago. Customer support is basically useless.

Customer service is not optimum it sounds but they were probably overwhelmed by all the orders. Heck we kept them busy for a day or two with all our orders. LOL Hope you get it straightened out.

I hate FexEx and get my stuff from summit and Jegs by UPS only. FedEx in my area is the same as a slow boat from China. And yes my Speedmaster order is coming FedEx

Free shipping !!!! Say's it all. If it were me, I'd be happy to get them within 10 days.
Free shipping is a good deal on bulky parts, be patient.
easy for me to say, usually have my parts within 48 hrs. lol
