Anyone ever run Speedmaster Heads on their small blocks

So how does one make these Speedmaster heads work on a 5.9 Magnum with the LA oil provisioning holes? I have a '94 block and just realized it has the oil holes from the factory. I'd like to stick with my hydraulic roller setup and use the LA style shaft mount rockers. What needs to be changed if anything? Cam bearings, pushrods, lifters? Thanks.
 
On Magnum blocks that are factory drilled for LA oiling, you need to make sure the two camshaft bearings are drilled or lined up with the oil holes in the block. Equally important, you must run a camshaft that is drilled for LA oiling as well.
If your block is drilled, camshaft bearings are drilled and lined up, and LA head gaskets are used with oil holes, everything else can be regular LA heads and rockers.
If block was not drilled for LA oiling, use the Magnum lifters and hollow pushrods along with LA rocker arms designed for pushrod oiling.

Un strouding the intake valve is usually a good idea......sometime the head gasket surface won't let you.

Sometimes it not the shrouding that is up setting the port as it is the shape of the combustion chamber.

What happens with the Magnum hydraulic roller lifters and hollow pushrods? They will continue to pump up and push oil up the pushrods to the LA style rockers on top of the normal LA oil passage in the block oiling the rocker shaft. Is this bad, or does it not matter?

I'm following along here. I studied up quite a bit about using Magnum heads on a LA block but not the other way around.
 
Won't hurt anything keeping hollow pushrods and Magnum oil-through lifters if the rest of the system is solid. If you already have low oil pressure with a full Magnum head setup, this would make it a tiny bit lower pressure, maybe, but definitely not noticeable if the rest of the short block is good.
Comp Cams cast rockers (Pro Magnums maybe?) are the rockers I have for this same build plan. Found out later the PRW may also be this way. Trick Flow is calling out Harland Sharp part numbers for their LA heads on Magnum short blocks.
 
correct
lubing with the magnum lifters and hollow pushrods in addition to shaft oiling is easier on the pushrod tips/ rocker adjusters
read the post again about the cam bearings and the cam oiling requirements for shaft oiling
or oil from the oil pressure gauge sender location- which gives more oil to the mains
do what B3 says to do for rockers and his shims if necessary and get them before measuring for pushrods
if you are starting from scratch ask B3 about cup type adjusters and ball and ball pushrods
you have read his 4 tech articles? right?
