408 Stroker Short Block Details: Blueprint Engines

  1. Well, nothing like having a couple weeks holiday time off and its time to retreat to the shop to tear into things a little. Got some of this nice NiCop (copper/nickle) 3/8" fuel line and an nos Fram canister filter, gonna hook that up, finish up the 489 case 4.10 w/Powr Lok, start getting things ready for the coming year, drag this thing back to the 1/8 mile in March, 1/4 mile for sure in early April, goal is cracking into the 11's. I'm thinking of yanking the EQ heads off maybe during hot summer months and either doing some extensive porting, and slap them back on or, hmmm, definately fighting off the "I want MORE" thoughts, don't think I'll be able to for long! LOL! Regarding the Blueprint short block, after about a year of driving and dragging, there been no issues to date and including almost 2 months sitting up on jack stands, no rear main seal leaks, or from anywhere else for that matter, nice! :thumbsup:

Still waiting for the revered 318/390 strokers...but that's just me!

A lot of 318's and (Magnum versions) out there, especially in D and W series pickups, everyone wanting a 360 or bigger, and even some stuffing LS engines in those trucks, what are people doing with those cores? Likely cant give them away. Maybe coming up with a nice stroker setup with some sort of core exchange discount for those so inclined. A slant or 3.9 v6 I'd pitch in a hearbeat, and then just go 410. But if I already had a 318, why not stroke it, or do a Blueprint 318/390 and send in the core, knock off a little of the "hit" in the wallet? Gotta be some viability in that, no?

There are many folks, like me, just love our 318s...!
The cores are cheap and the horsepower and torque are comparable. ...I think Blueprint could make money with them...

Individual freight cost would outweigh any benefit to getting in cores 1 at a time. We buy cores by the hundreds...and recieve credit for the ones we reject, which is pretty high.
We produce 50 engines a day. Anything we cant do in large quantities loses viability pretty quick.
We're close to releasing a new version of our 408 which will be full roller. That's my #1 at the moment, then hopefully Blueprint branded heads....then if sales are high enough on those, we will move to the next mopar project!!! I wanna do more mopars. That's no secret, I just need ya'll to keep shooting us business, and then its easier for me to do more and more.

Aluminum or iron?
Yeah, I know...aluminum is lighter and you can run a point more compression. But I'm 'old school' and like the heat retention of iron...heat in the combustion chamber is power.

Mine will be aluminum. Market demand and what I feel is more performance oriented. Weight, cost, cr, etc
 
I would think low deck shortblocks would sell like hotcakes. Are 400 cores available enough?
Good question. I would have to check. What makes it tough is we have to focus on things we can produce in quantities, and for an extended amount of time. AND sell them. I'm 100% for wanting to land more mopar customers!. We (R&D) just need to know its things we can sell in dozens a week....vs dozens a year. At what point does the gen III hemi have more potential than a BB....probably now.... so it wont be soon and the eggs go in that basket. Just brain storming at 11pm on a sunday.. lol

I was VERY happy with the motor I got from Blueprint. ...if you had the Mopar combo I want now, I wouldn't think twice about buying from you again .

It took a year but hot damn, Dec 7th 2019 the day I broke into the 11's! Nice sunny 54° day at "The Rock":steering: First run awesome but let off due to a brain fart, went back out immediately to atone and clicked off a 7.45 @91.18 in the 1/8 and 11.82@ 111.26 in the 1/4. Backed that up with a 7.44 @ 91.37/ 11.80@111.05. Swapped to that RPM Air Gap a month or so ago and then tweaked the jetting a smidge on the AED 750 DP. Short block still doing just fine! What fun:)

In terms of getting more customers, might want to consider Chrysler's at Carlisle in Pennsylvania. Northeast America. Bring some motors and running stands
 
Love it!!!

Spent all day thurs working on a new shortblock.

Still finalizing pricing, but should be done soon.
