Indy 360-1 vs TFS VS W2

-
So the indy 360-1 is basically and alu version of the cast iron MPP W2 right? ..................

It's close. The -1 is a square port head and the -2 is an oval port head.

Why oh why Indy thinks a 1.625 exhaust valve on those heads is a good thing. It's just plain stupid.

I was going to buy some -1's about 8 or so years ago but I couldn't get them to sell me a set of heads with the valves unfinished. That big exhaust valve is crazy. It should be no bigger that 1.550 if the port isn't junk.

And if the port is junk, then the big valve won't fix that.

That was my next question was the oval and square ports. and both take a different manifold.

Yea man. 1.625? Weird.... whatever....
There’s a few fellas here making good power with them.

Love that intake though! Wooooooooo

W2's get my vote. I've ran a few sets over the years.
currently i'm running a stock stroke (stock bottom end) 360'' with W2's.
so far i've run 10.40 @ 129 mph with only 4 passes in the car. i can see 10.20's with some suspension tuning. front springs need to be changed.

i have old iron W2 rockers that have 1.4 rocker ratio. might not be the best but it still works.

you don't have to spend huge amounts of money. i bought everything used (heads, intake, rockers). i have old junk LA headers, 1-5/8''. definitely not the ideal header but it's all i can afford.

Has anyone built a full on effort with the Trick Flows? I have Indy 360-1's on my 434, while not a full on effort it makes decent power. Someone mentioned that they take a different header, I'm running the same Hedmans that I ran on my Edelbrocks. The port alignment is not perfect but it isn't bad.

Pittsburg, I thought all small block Edelbrock heads came with Chevy sized valves.

On the cost of GM parts versus Mopar parts. Good cranks, rods, pistons cost the same. Where it's cheaper to build the Chevy is blocks and heads, not to mention the selection of parts available.

As a general rule Mopar guys are cheap and stuck in the past. It seems Chevy and Ford guys embrace change and progress, Mopar guys not so much.

Not all Mopar guys are cheap and not all Chevy guys throw money around like a drunk at a strippers bar. I know a Chevy guy that is s well paid Teacher in Pa and a very good racer. He is tighter than about any racer I ever met. Yes Edelbrock do come with Chevy length valves and when i order Ferrera Valve you order the advertised Chevy plus .100 length.

W2 heads for the OP’s application....... the opposite of the easy button.

It’s 10’s in a Dart.
550hp will get it done....... which is mild ported RPM territory, only now with the TF heads on the scene, they’re the better option.

So in your opinion go with Trick Flows? I guess with the added bonus of them being aluminum it helps with pump gas as well as weight
