Stop in for a cup of coffee

It looks like a Dart to me, unless someone has done some modification, like Johnny Cash sings about. The modified Cadillac. :D

Bill
Actually a Scamp. We used to bust on him a bit about it. We were actually getting a bit to "sexist" I guess for lack of a better word and his wife saw it and got pissed so he is not on here any more. Really don't blame him but do miss him around.

We are heading to Costa Rica again this winter and will be staying at the base of a volcano (Arenal). Kinda freaks me out but still looking forward to it.
I lived on The Big Island of Hawaii just a few miles away from the volcano. There were nights the sky was orange red from it that definitely freaked me out.

Scampy is still alright in my book. Funny SOB. His wife was just worried I would be a bad influence on him. She was right!

I built it for deer hunting in a shotgun zone... legal pistol
ahh. see here, my 6.5 grendel is legal and puts everything within my property lines and then some in my range. Wife's been making fun of me for taking both my 12ga and my 6.5 out. I'm about afraid that in too close of targets, the 6.5 would punch thru.

Yep, I'd think the same thing for the 6.5. There is not enough room around my area for something like a 6.5. Hence the reason I went this route. Not to mention I dont think I would ever take a shot further than 200 yards anyways. Im done building them now. I finally used up all 4 of my lowers I had sitting around and I have no intentions of making anything else. If I do it would be a 308 but those are expensive builds and I dont do expensive.

The barrel for my 6.5 build, the blank alone, 800 bucks. another 400 for the final machining... But it'll drive tacks at 300 yards. For me, I had several short to mid range capable rifles in a variety of calibers. I needed/wanted something with at least a 800 yard range. Originally was looking at going 308 or 300 win mag. But I, like you, had a ton of extra lowers and parts laying around. Plus the Grendel was gaining popularity big time and another factor at the time that I was looking at was the club competitions and how they scored. They take the number of hits at X yard line, multiply it by the distance, then divide that total by the caliber. So for example. 5 shots, 800 yards = 4000 divided by 7.62, gave you a total score of 525. Now take that same 4000 divided by 6.5 and you have 615 match points. meaning you win, granted there's some other penalty/bonus points you can get but almost everyone runs similar equipment so those beomce marginal. You also lose 1 point per case length as well. All the club shooters run .308s to get out to that distance.
