Anyone know anything about this block?

Aluminum big block mopar with the number 3690255 on the side. I need to get sleeves for it.

Who made the block? That's where I would start, only a couple of sources for aluminum blocks. OR, you could go measure the block to get the ID of the cylinder and then determine what wall thickness you want for a bore diameter.

Milodon VII block. Block part # 3690255. More common in the Australian drag scene I think.

Those things had wet sleeves that I recon are nearly impossible to keep from getting water in the oil. But if the bed carrier hasn’t been cut apart to make bearing changes quicker they are strong on the level of Keith Black blocks. I’m thinking you could use A/B epoxy filler in the bottom of the water jackets to get one to seal. What’s your intended application for that?

Supposed to be a hemi block. I got it and a set of Alcoa heads if I spelled that correctly. I was told to use that stuff like pipe dope on the outside of the sleeve and it would seal them. It was all free so I figured I would take a chance on it.

I'm assuming that's an old design. There are probably some much better products to seal the sleeves these days. Call Darton, but I'd talk to a shop that does a lot of Darton sleeving on imports to see what might work to seal it.

The Darton M.I.D. uses small o rings on the bottom of the cylinders. The Milodon uses only an interference fit. I would imagine where Darton does a lot of aluminum LS stuff they may me able to make something happen here.

Nice score, BTW. I'd love to have one just because of the kink factor. Me and 70's vintage speed equipment...

Now that’s just not even fair now, Lolol! But I really hope Darton has what you need to make this coolness happen and be reliable. You may even want to consider sending the block to them to do the work. Please tell me your wanting to add a 4-3/8 crank, some dual plug heads, and a tunnel ram with a pair of Dominators... Oh, and a Lenco. Gotta have a Lenco. Don’t matter that all that has probably been done before. Shew, I’ve got to stop now! I’m mouth breathing and my dirty knuckles are starting to drag the floor....

Well darton does not have anything on the shelf but said they could make me some... I will try LA Sleeve as well.. Na not going to be massive.. Maybe in the 500 inch. I have a set of Alcoa heads already ready with this block with valve covers so yes 2 4v carbs... May end up with an 871 on it.

Your parts stash is amazing, I’d forgotten all about the Alcoa made heads.
