I have a 73 Scamp with QA1 front suspension set up for 72 biscuit mounts and stock torsion bars and Manuel steering. Has a Blue print 408 engine with 470 HP running Edelbrock performer heads and looking for the right headers to fit that are not to low to the ground. Running a auto 904 with a Gear Vendor over drive. I'm not looking for a cheap header after all this work just want to do this one time. Any ideas would be great.

Pictures are better than words I think.

I installed a set of Doug 453's. Not one ding needed. They are above the center link, so ground clearance isn't a problem. Gobs of room around my mini starter, in fact, I replaced the mini starter without even loosening the header. Here is my install.

5204 Hooker. Or, if you look around you may be able to find a set of Hooker 5303's.

I like the latter better but Hooker doesn't make them any more. Best standard head header out there.

Thanks yellow rose will look it up.

He seems to be using power to manual coupler adapter...will that have clearance??

so if they don't make them anymore he would just get somebody's old rusty headers that he's going to put it in his brand new stuff.....

TTI-X3, mine needed a minor ding. A 52 yo car isn’t perfect anymore. I’d do it again in a heart beat.

Am I seeing things or is the passenger side torsion bar still installed?

Qa1 is a coil over setup right?

They make them both ways mine is torsion.
Ok cool I didn't know that. Sorry I dont have any real world header experience, it was just something that caught my eye.

For what it's worth though, I've heard throughout the years that TTI makes the absolute best of everything exhaust.

I’ll second that with an “*” because there Street & street strip sizes headers are a super good fit. Maybe not perfect for all, but there really nice.

When it comes to maximum output headers....
Not so much but that’s OK.

Not sure on that Mtrhead.
318willrun has the adapter also, and it looks like he had a mile of clearance. The TTI's are step headers, that start out with 1 5/8 tube, and then step up to 1 3/4. Dougs are 1 5/8 all the way. The TTI's have one slip tube on the drivers side to go around the torsion bar, but I don't think the Dougs headers have any slip tubes on the D453's.
