Happy Friday everyone. Day off today, work Christmas lunch today with boss and a couple coworkers. Will try to get some shop stuff done in between.

Yep! It all started after I retired and really came into play after my heart surgery! For instance, my wife and I were talking about collector cars. I told her "I'm not done yet. Don't be surprised if I come driving up in something different one of these days." Irresponsible? If you say so. LOL
 
To expound on that. Yesterday saw the dd fixed, properly functioning fuel pump installed and carb cleaned up on my 65. Promptly screwed up the new fuel hose, it moved and the power steering belt ate a hole in it. Also the brake pedal went to the floor.:mad:.
Moved to the truck and still cant get the rear gallery plug out. Broke an extractor off in it to further complicate matters.:mad:.
That leads to a choice few words and me pulling the engine and tranny out of my 67 fastback and swapping the tranny and torque converter. :icon_fU: to responsibility. It is ready to go back in.:rofl::realcrazy:.
I think I am certifiable.
 
So my map gas torch isnt hot enough to get the gallery plug out. What do yall think about hitting the plug with a welder where I broke the extractor off at to heat it up?

Gotta do what you gotta do. Those extractors are hard as the hob knobs.
 
so if I have to rebuild this Hemi, should I go ahead and make it "fun" :lol:

Enough of it exposed for a sharp cold chisel to get a bite on?

Thost tapered pipe plugs can get welded in there for sure. If they are female square, it's a good idea to stick some square stock or an extension in the hole and wrap it with a hammer. It upsets the threads and often times makes it easier to remove. If there's sealer a little heat can help.

Kinda what I was thinkin'. No substitute for a BFH.

I used to service a engine rebuilding shop. The young guns had square plug sockets broken every week. The old guy that stripped the blocks rarely had a twisted or broken plug socket. I asked him what he did different. He taught me that trick.
