This may sound dumb but can anyone give me the dimensions for the Vim V103 distributor wrench? I am going to be making one & need the dims from the center of the 7/16 hex to the bend & how tall (or long) the tool needs to be. If you have one, please measure it up for me. THANKS!!!!!

cheaper and easier just to buy the right tool

ten bucks

WHAT????????

I am saying I installed a stud and a nut vs a bolt . It has no bearing on the wrench question but it does make it easier to replace the hold down when you pull the dizzy. Then I use a shorty 1/2 wrench to tighten the nut.
I have a few Dist wrenches but this way is easier.

whats the advantage?

The hold down is held in place by the stud instead of slipping around while you try to start the bolt in the hole in the block.

Its not a huge deal but it is nice if you are recurving the dizzy and taking it in and out over and over again on a small block.

On a 2.3 turbo I had, it was difficult to access the bolt with a wrench or socket. I switched to a socket head "allen" bolt and bought a long hex drive with the ball end. Worked perfect.

That also crossed my mind.

Thought I had that one can’t find it readily. I’ve an older Craftsman 1/2” version. It’s about 1.5” from center of hex to the vertical shaft. The vertical shaft is 14” tall. The horizontal handle at the top is 6.5” wide. Hope that helps.

Why don't you just bend up a pattern from scrap..........like a coat hanger. Yeh, I know, wire ones are hard to find. What are your fab skills, can you weld? I've bent wrenches up through 9/16 and maybe larger with a good hot propane torch. That's right, PROPANE (and pro-pane accessories LOL) That, a vise, hammer, vise grips, etc..............

DOH!!! Never thought of the coat hanger idea! I've used it for brake lines etc but didn't even think of it! Thanks

The wrench isn't for the block bolt. It is for the adjusting bolt on the rear underside of the distributor.

67 Dart; Try a mapp gas torch kit. The tanks are yellow, sold in many stores, and they heat things up faster than propane.

If my memory is right, I believe the bolt under the distributor is for a coarse adjustment. Then use the bolt on the block for regular adjustment.

That will be tough to make. I just put late model holdowns on and be done with it.

LOL that was kinda my point, tho I did not say so. You don't need MAPP or oxy/ acet to bend smaller wrenches. In fact, just this last summer I put a glitch in an old wrench to get a carb off an outboard. Rather than string out the oxy/ acet, I just grabbed the old faithful LPG torch. I wanted a "tight close" bend right near the open end, so I clamped the open end in a big 'ol vise, heated 'er up, and struck with a BFH a few times.
