I picked up a 93 2wd S10 5 speed truck. I am having a blast ....front sway bar...rear roll pan... putting a bunch of weight in the back to make it stick to the road...It has a little 2.8 V6 and a 5 speed. My question is ......am I being stupid to entertain the idea of putting in a $70 lunchbox locker in it? I think its a 7.5 and with the 2.8 it has no real power but it would be nice to be able to use ALL of its power as apposed to "one legging" it coming out of a corner and such. I know Ill wear the tires a bit, but in your humble opinion, would you just get an 8.8 or 9" that already has a locker and narrow it to specs. It is a daily.

I can't recommend it though I've "been there." When I was young, before my Navy days, (66-68), Navy 68-74--I had a 56 Chev for a VERY short time (long story LOL) and a 57, both of which were "weld a lok." The 57 I drove through a N Idaho winter with lots of snow. You BETTER learn to dirt track the thing or it will soon "leave the road." Even in the rain they can be "interestin"

EDIT: I had meant to add, I would not consider such a mod in a "daily"

Are you saying yur 27 year old 2.8 can spin the tires?
Oh, I get it; one tire, lol.
Well once the "posi" is in there it will stop that lol.
And not a spool or anything that acts like a spool with skinny tires. And whatever it takes to stop the chassis from twisting so far over.
You know; I think that mini has nothing but a ladder frame back there.
I think, recommend tires first; big fat tall ones; that'll kill some torque, lol.

Im putting some 28x10 truck tires on an 8" "kidney bean" slotted aluminum mags on the back. Ill see how she does. Maybe a small ebay turbo could liven things up? this thing is a hoot man.
