Getting any days off for Christmas?

-
I was laid off in October, so the days are pretty much all the same to me right now. I'm definitely envious of you retired guys, this is the life. Guess I can't get too used to it, I still have 15 -20 years before I can do it permanently.

Depends on which organization you work for in the company. In addition to the holiday itself, on 12/24, Engineering gets a 1/2 day, half of each Construction crew gets a 1/2 day on 12/24 and the other half gets a 1/2 on 1/3. Installation/maintenance gets screwed.

City employee, we work 4 10's, Monday thru Thursday. Paid off on both Tuesdays and both Wednesdays. Took off on both Mondays and both Thursdays. the way it works out this year by taking 4 vacation days I'm gone from the 20th to the 5th. Cant wait, Don't have any big projects going but will find something to do. Hoping for some cool weather to enjoy some nice rides. Merry Christmas everyone!

This whole discussion chaps my *** !

We get Christmas day off because they are closed. BUT... WE DONT GET OUR REGULAR DAY OFF ! And because we in sales we are paid strictly on commission... which means our holidays are not paid. AND it means the there are more guys on the floor each day that week because no one gets their regular day off so we have less opportunities to sel which =. Less pay !
Its a total power play by the owner....he is a good Christian... He tells us EVERY Xmas party without fail ! Lol

We get two days off, I'm adding 5 (11 total with weekends) and flying to visit family, I see them every year a couple times but this will be the first for the holidays since they moved in 2011

I'm sitting here in Washington, way to close to the nuclear dump for comfort. Think I'll just go to Las Vegas and not think about work until next year. Might even get to meet up with the wife who is down in Supai.
Nice not to have a boss.

Since I'm on afternoon shift that week, we usually work 3pm to 11:30pm.
As it goes, I'll work my regular shift on Monday and Tuesday, and then on Wednesday (Christmas eve) we are scheduled to work 9am to 5:30 pm.
Then back to work on Friday as usual.
I think that's awful nice of them..........
Everybody works Friday, but the supervisors and all office staff have it off.
Then next week is day shift as usual, with New Year's day off.
Merry Christmas everyone!

I work tomorrow, then I'm off until the 2nd. I have 4 days vacation left, and we get 2 days off for the holiday, plus with my four 10's schedule...my 4 day weekend is next weekend. I work Mon-Thur one week, and Tue-Fri the next,,,,so every other weekend is a 4 day weekend.

December 25th i think. If I get all my work done :p

I work at a high school, the kids, teachers, and office staff get two weeks off.

But being a custodian, we get two days, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. But I'm taking Monday the 23rd so it'll be like a 5 day weekend.

What do ya get?
20 years with a school district in maintenance. Retired Oct 2018. The last five yrs I had five weeks vac so I usually filled in Christmas and Christmas eve with vacation time . Also every other year had a floating holiday I could use plus personal days.

I sure dont miss hopeing to be off for the holidays , I do miss the people I worked with and the holiday spirit I used to feel with the folks at work before Christmas, but it's nice being off permanently, just to piddle and do what I feel like.

Just remember........it you "piddle" too much and too often....you'll go blind.:poke::eek:

Being semi-retired, I have the luxury of setting my own work schedule, more-or-less. No work for me from the 24th through the 29th, then just one day before JAN 2. There's nothing not to like about being retired. Work part time, on whatever days you feel like, etc.
I work for myself so I'm off for the next 2 weeks. I decided to cut back to a few select clients and be semi-retired too starting in 2020. Reeaalllly looking forward to it!

I get 2 weeks off starting last Monday, but I’m doing a side job for a friend of mine, so I’ll be there off and on for the next 2 weeks. I took tomorrow to set up for my sons big wrestling tournament on Saturday. I’ll work Monday, but take Tuesday and Wednesday off. Probably finish Thursday or Friday, then have until the 6th off unless something comes up that I want to do!
