Does anyone know the correct shade of orange for a 74 A and E body 360 air cleaner

It aint Hemi orange or street orange, I can tell you that. if you take it (a good specimen) to a paint store they may be able to "scan" a chip of paint and tell you the HTML of the color and have some mixed up.

"...AIR CLEANER ORANGE
Did you know that painted air cleaner lids did not match the engine? Our specialty paint is the correct color. 24.95

I had a 74 A body HP 360 and it was black. Does the orange one look repainted, it looks original in your picture?

The one in the pic is not mine but as seen on nick's garage air cleaner I'd

I do have an original one in faded orange but I'm not home now to get a pic but it came on a numbers 74 dart sport 360

I should have took my original paint one in and got it scanned before sandblasting it a month or so ago.
I may have an old pic of it somewhere.

Then I would guess it would be street hemi orange, like 340's used. I'll take a picture of my 72 340 air cleaner. Been inside for decades and came off a low mileage 340 Auto Duster.

Original paint air cleaner with the inside of my shop door & the paint I used on the door;

They both look very close.

Rustoleum at Wally World is around 5 bucks a can. The MP paint is more than double that.

It is correct that the orange color for the 72-3 air cleaners really are different than the street hemi orange that went on the 340 blocks. If you can stand the price the air cleaner stuff from Totally Auto is correct

Original, 72 I blasted a couple months ago.

Home Depot sells a Rustoleum paint called REAL ORANGE. It’s a very nice deep orange color. I used it on my 360. Painted air cleaner, intake, timing chain cover and water pump with it. Put, 3k miles on car since it was applied. Still looks good as the day I sprayed it on.

I did apply 4-5 light coats of semi gloss clear. To make it easier to keep clean. I think they also sell it at Walmart now. I usually don’t promote cheap rattle can paints. But, it’s exactly the color I was shooting for. Has held up, too.
