That is the date of engine final assembly from the 10,000 day calendar & the 40th engine assembly completed at Mound road on that date. 3813 = Jan 5th, 1972

H - Series (model year) 1972

What is the partial VIN on the passenger side of the block?

Wow look how nice that dash one block is no porosity . Racers would kill for that block. It is a 72 production car block poured in 71 .It is the first one out of the ladle that day. The metal does not get better than that. I'll put money there is no core shift when sonic tested. They don't get better than that for a production block. Something you might want to hang onto. Valuable piece of iron in the 340 world. I charged double for a block that nice back in the day. And if its standard bore its a large diamond.

Unfortunately it’s .030 over. I been thinking to stroke it this winter but thought I’d throw it out there to see if anyone has a car it should be in. I have the crank and rods for it too. No heads. Thanks for the info

Only if it belong to someone car. I really don’t want to but I would.

I understand. My son builds motors . A lot of 358 mopar sprint car guys look for these blocks . They must use production blocks. Very hard to find 340-1's
