ET'S with ported J/or other iron heads SB

11.54-11.70 depending on what calc or chart you use. I take the 1/8-1/4 conversions with a grain of salt. Way too many variables.
Well, most mid 11 second cars go about 7.50's in the 1/8. My friends Duster, for example, goes 11.5's in the 1/4 and runs 7.5's in the 1/8.

6.40's on Bottle. 7.40-7.50's on throttle. 6.40's would be in the 10's. Just go re-read it.
No it ran 6.90 all day long probably a 1,000 passes over the years.
It did run a handful of 6.86-6.89 the class was 7.0 so anything quicker lost. 7.40 on the motor, if you didn’t shift into high, 7.50 if you did.

You didn't have one et for throttle and one for bottle??..
You know when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
All we had was 1/8 mile tracks in the area I lived in at the time, and Paragould AR was the closest, George Ray was the owner, and he was to cool an old man, as he’d slip me a 50 many a time for just showing up. The car was the only street car running that class at the time with dot tires, and tags.
The car ran way in 10s on the nitrous!

I finally took a serious look at what I've always wanted to do... DUAL QUAD NITROUS!.. until I found out how much it was going to cost repeatedly... A $70 10lb bottle refill after every three- four passes on a hundred and fifty shot?... So after the $50 entry fee and fuel another $150 - $200 for 7 - 10 passes... Out of My League....

That’s why I’ve got a w2 372 roller engine going in soon, as the car hasn’t been drove in years, and I need some seat time.
the goal is next winter a 440-450 inch w5 engine, as I have some nice heads that are ready to assemble. No nitrous needed.
Though I had tremendously good luck running it. Never ever hurt the engine.
I tried using the 200 and 300 shot and it slowed the car down, or I should say spun all the way down track, still was quick.
20 and 30 years ago.
The car is caged now, and a ton of weight came off the front of the car. Shooting for 10s next summer, as I’ve got a grudge match setup with a bb Chevelle trans brake, glide car, 9” rear, ladder bars. He runs mid 10s strictly drag car.
Trust me I will have all my ducks in a row.

It didn’t cost near that to run at the time.
It was a Sunday drive, with 1 full bottle of nos, a few gallons of av gas mixed with premium. Beer
Maybe 80-100 Total cost, entry was the same as admittance.

Brian the kid(well not a kid any more) that owns the F.A.S.T. Duster is no way a rich man, just a very hard working mechanic with a lot of talent. I hate to say it but he has turned into a Ford man now( he has one hell of a fast 5.0 Mustang and is working on a new 5.0 Ford F 150 to be quicker than the stang). We bust his stones all the time about it, but I am afraid we've lost him. P.S. Just busting your stones buddy, love ya man, come back to the "M" side or your dad mite not let you have the AAR.

Iwe ran 10:97 with my xhead 408 with 465 brake hp in my 3050 lbs valiant wagon.

@PRH
Can you get away with W2s in fast class ?
And who does the Tech for FAST ? How on earth can they check for all the different spechs the rules call for ?
No, w2’s are not allowed. As for tech, the person at the event who organizes that days racing would do tech, you could be asked to pull a valve cover or remove the carb. Looking for the stock casting number. Small blocks can run x heads or any of the other u/j etc. same for the intakes and exhaust manifolds. Other than starting with the correct castings and maintaining their outer stock appearance. There is not a bunch of “specs”. Could you spend an obscene amount of money and have someone cast a 340 intake in aluminum with all the casting numbers on it and paint it in magnetic paint sure, are you cheating? Yep. Is it worth it for a trophy? Not to me. I’m never going to win an event, but I’m almost guaranteed to get a couple of close races during a weekend. My efforts at weight loss stop at “it has to be bolt on”

Or you could run a factory cast iron 4bbl manifold

Got a buddy that has been mid 9’s( 9.50’s) with a stock stroke 340, and small valve iron heads.
Forget if they were 308 heads or another newer type head.
They had 1.88 intake valve.
Car weighs 2700 ish with him in it. Raced it for years, hurt it, now i think its close to being out at the track again this upcoming season
Probably most impressive small block i know of.

Well what's the secret? Why isn't everybody's 340 doing 9 second quarter miles...!???..

We did. You weren't watching. You just can't make mistakes. I had enough wrong with the car that I should have been .2 maybe .3 better. I actually was working towards 8's when I burned out. I needed several blocks and several sets of heads. Wasn't worth the effort. And I may have went back to carbs. At the very least I would have been back on racing gas and not alcohol.

The guy who owns the car and ported the heads and built the motor is smarter than the average bear.
Sure surprises all of us who have seen it run.
Its been at Monster Mopar and many other places. Very well known guy( and car) on Moparts
Blue 68 Barracuda

All of this forum BS isn't necessary. If you want to know what stock iron heads can do, just research Mopar stock eliminator racing in the late 60s and all through the 70s. I know that might seem like work, but your answers will be much more accurate.

I disagree.......yes j par i know how to push the red check mark

Any way, times(et's) that are forum racer can do, give up hope that we can too.
stock eliminator have more money in there induction system(carb, intake and heads,) then most of us have in a complete eng build.
