2020 small block race?

Still trying to get some input on some items for the 1/8th mile guys.
What calculator to use?
Do you make only the listed gear ratios legal as a lot of them gear numerically higher?
So for the moment yes. I still have a few days left to get this done and up.
My thing with the gears was "true street car". Don't know too many "true street cars" that run higher than a 4.50 gear. Somebody will say they do all the time... but I had to have a cut off. Of course, you can do it how you want... and I don't know of an accurate 1/8 mile chart to convert to 1/4 mile. The computer calculators have never worked out with my cars.
 
It may be that it has to just be 1/4 but going to try and see what can be done.
 
Here’s an example of how close these charts are. The fastestest 1/8 mile pass my car made over the last four years with me driving was I ran 6.00 four different times. The fastest 1/4 mile pass was 9.42 during that time. This is with a 4.88 rear geared car.
 
I went 8.4's and 13.3's. Chart says 8.4's would be 13.1. So in his small block race I'd be better off turning in my 1/8 mile time. by the chart, I'd be a little better than my dial index, especially if I just reported my 1/8 mile time. But it would ball park it for the sake of the race.

I think it comes out closer on a drag only car but I’m sure you can come up with and average plus or minus figure to go by.
 
Ok starting with the same TDC car as the penalty box do these seem like realistic e.t.'s?
383 15.2
400 14.4
440 13.86
My problem is that the # for the increase in cid decreases with each jump of say 20 cid.
318 .05
340 .045
360 .0425
383 .0396
400 .0360
440 .0315
Just math and not sure where to take my baseline e.t. sources from to give a good run as 1/4 mile data is inconsistant.
 
I also went through some timeslips posted on the 2018 race and out of 4 cars and 5 slips the conversion chart listed above was more or less .2 faster on 3 of the 4 cars in the 1/4 mile. 1 was dead on.
So use it as is with the 1.56 conversion factor or use the 1.5835 conversion factor that goes with the majority of the cars?

just remember, the tables NHRA or anyone else would create would be for Drag cars. Not street cars. It's like dividing 1320/mph, much easier to get on a drag car than a street car because of the gears/converter/weight being used.

Just a suggestion. But why not have different classes? It’s all for fun anyways right. Have several SB and BB classes. That way each class can have it’s own chart to go by. Just my suggestion

Any Hemi guys involved with this event?
Every year the big block guys want to race, and that's great. Somebody needs to make a chart like the small block chart, except use a 383 RR as the nominal car??? Idea for someone (not me...lol)
 
I spent some time talking to the BB guys on FBBO and couldnt get the info needed to do a chart. No offense but most would not even dream of running a BB car stock in order to set up the baseline. I also dont have the mopar BB background to set up that chart. I did think about picking up a Duster I know where is along with a stock 383, 400 and 440 to do that but too many projects.
 
I am actually going to try and compare the penalty box against some of my Fords. To see if it is possible to cross over for say, Ford, Chevy and AMC. I have a stock 289, mild 289, better 302 and a mild 351w all in cars.
Based on using the 318 level for the 302 in a Mustang it would have to run a 12.2 and the 351 in a 68 Fairlane would have to run the same 12.2.
The mild 289 would have to run a 15.2 in a 65 Fairlane. The stock 289 in a 68 mustang would need to run a 15.9 if my math was right.
If we have some stock 383, 400, 440 ie tdc car with a 727 BB or manual BB #'s for baseline would be interesting to see if we could put together a chart.
I would like to see a chart for the slant guys.

I’m saying for building a charts sake. There is a lot of variables. Just thought it would make things easier on the person making the chart

Ok I have 2 worksheets I have made up for selecting your index.
1. Has just a final automatic sum for both the deductions and shows your index
2. Has an index sum at each of the catagories as well as a final deduction and index sum.
Which would you prefer to use?

IDK. What would be better for those that will be adding parts throughout the year? For instance I plan on making a run or two and adding headers.

IDK either. I'd have to see both..... I'd just do what's easiest for you
 
All you have to do is plug in your +or- for a given item and it calculates it for you automaticly
