I had a similar issue with my stock 67 273 (2bbl) turns out somewhere along its life someone plugged the vacuum advance line near the canister. once I removed the plug it jumped off idle great. might also verify that you have a proper vacuum source for your dist. (0 at idle and raises as rpm comes up)
