WTF is this???

I’ve got to ask, how bad does that hang up when your driving it, anyway? Any panic moments with a stuck throttle yet? A complete factory linkage is your best bet, by far. It uses a longer rod from the throttle pressure valve on the transmission, a taller bell crank and throttle cable bracket, and a longer carburetor link assembly. You’ll be able to unbolt that mess of an extension bracket and mount the linkage stud off of it with the aforementioned Edelbrock 1481 (thanks 4spdragtop!) extension lever. It would make this whole deal an easy bolt on fix. This is really a good place for a factory service manual so you can properly set up and adjust your linkage, too. Because of the bad geometry, none of these homemade linkage setups like this properly operate the throttle pressure valve on the transmission in the designed linear motion even if they by some miracle manage to get it operate fully across its range of motion. And yes, it’s pretty important for the life of the transmission to make that happen.
